I read Marcato's been working on his sprinting this winter; he must have been so frustrated by all the second places last year. Let's hope his training will result in many wins this season.

Yeah, his sprint was the reason why he got second in Paris-Tours last year

He should ride smarter if he wants to win more.

i hope he will get a few this year, great rider.

goodness that just shows how much the general french public knows/cares about cycling ... cf. my transcription of the "team europa/whatever team thomas voeckler is on - interview" the other day

@TomStamsnijder:

out off the time limit! i am really ****ed at the organizers! point 1 never they gave us the time difference to the front of the race! point 2 it was dangerous to ride 2day but we decided to continue because of the race orginisation, so they would not have financial problems for next year! and what do they do to thank us, take 40 riders out of the race because we where over the 8 min time-limit, 2 min too late

the 5th stage has been cut!

besseges50.png

tha finish has been moved to the top of the ill! So, now it's more interesting!

Aww Rolland would've won easily if they had finished on top of the col.

ah right, and they even shortened the short stage taking the clim away from it... so I guess that makes sense.

The TT has a climb in it and Rolland did pretty good in the TT in the Tour last year, so I'm saying Rolland ftw!

56 guys in with a shout leading into the TT. Rolland, Taaramae, Coppel and Engoulvent stand out as the favourites for GC to me. Who knows, maybe Bobbie will pull off the TT of his life, he's got history here in Besseges, would be poetic if he ended up winning it.

With the TT finishing in a 3km climb, 5% average and stretches of 16 to 20%, seems obvious to me that Bodrogi and Engoulvent are out of contention. So for me the GC is between Roland, Coppel and Taaramae.

wasn't Rolland 21st or something in the TT in the Tour?

He should be able to keep his lead in a 9,7km TT with 3 of climbing

EDIT he lost 47secs to Taaramae in the TT in the TDF..... which was 42,5km

according to the latest info I saw Traksel is at 6 seconds not 10

1 ROLLAND Pierre EUC FRA
2 TRAKSEL Bobbie LAN NED 06''
2 VERMEULEN Franck VRU FRA 06''
4 MARCATO Marco VCD ITA 08''
5 POULHIES Stéphane SAU FRA 10''
6 EL FARES Julien TT1 FRA 16''
8 HOVELYNCK Kurt LAN BEL 16''
9 ANTOMARCHI Julien TT1 FRA 17''
9 RAVARD Anthony ALM FRA 18''
10 HIVERT Jonathan SAU FRA 18''
11 CUSIN Rémi TT1 FRA 18''
12 BARBE Koen LAN BEL 18''
13 DUMOULIN Samuel COF FRA 20''
14 MARTINEZ Yannick LPM FRA 20''
15 ENGOULVENT Jimmy SAU FRA 20''

Not that it matters much. I don't see him winning anyway. More like a TT specialist or just Rolland

I think Engoulvent could still do good. I saw him win the prologue of the Tour of Luxembourg twice and that has a brutal climb in it ... but 3km climb is probably a bit long
