I know, toby, we're supposed to be judging the race quality, not the victor(s), but the objective of race quality is surely about enjoyment, and on that basis I'd have the entire day of the 2016 Ronde cast onto the pyre in a heartbeat.

I find it interesting that despite probably the two best individual races in the timeframe both being editions of Roubaix, Lombardia is the monument most clustered at the top with three of the top six and three before the highest scoring RVV. LBL and Sanremo being at the bottom is far less surprising, with the latter often ending in bunch sprints and the former being notorious for "wait for the race to develop" editions in recent years. I may over-fondly remember 2012 as a result because of comparison with the editions that followed, but nevertheless...
