Teams & Riders The Great Big Cycling Transfers, Extensions, and Rumours Thread

Page 137 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
Possibly horrible news for @Libertine Seguros; Linda Jackson's team becomes EF Education-TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank.

The team will made up of 13 riders from six countries of which seven will be new riders (two of those will have riden for the team previously, though). The only known riders at this point are US RR champion Lauren Stephens, recently crowned queen of the Koppenberg, Clara Honsinger, and the promising neo-pro Veronica Ewers, but there are rumours about Krista Doebel-Hickok and Katrin Hammes being the two returning riders.

BikeExchange have not only struck a deal with Alé who won't continue with the new UAE team, but they have also signed someone who's probably wasn't on that many fans' radar.

Riwal just posted a picture of a new signing:

They're just teasing.

The rider turned out to be Alexander Salby, though I thought it was someone else, because I read about Salby on feltet.dk before the team announced it.

Chad Haga has also been confirmed as a new Rally rider.

Is Vaughters sticking his craw in to try to steal money and kill this team off too, or is it just a bit like Astana where the two teams just happen to share a sponsor?

It does seem like it's purely/mostly an EF thing, but EF Pro Cycling (and Vaughters himself) are definitely trying to take some credit for it, too, with posts on social media and on their own website. That might just be a way to give TIBCO and EF more exposure, of course, but some people will probably be thinking that the teams will be directly linked to each other.

Vaughters try to claim credit for something undeservedly? Perish the thought!

Any news about Florian Lipowitz? I've read a few weeks/months ago he might go to Bora but their squad is full i guess?

+what about the story Paul Double might go to EF? Has this calmed down or is there still a possibility?

Many thanks in advance.

I don't have any sources on that but I find it unlikely, because according to CQ, EF already have 26 confirmed riders for 2022, but Morton and Delettre are going to be there too according to one forum user who has good sources to that's 28. It means only 2 spots left (maybe 3, but I would be surprised to see EF going for 31 riders in 2022) and considering the fact that among riders with uncertain future are Owen, Howes, Langeveld, Scully and Caicedo, I would think it's among these riders you'll find those who are going to round out the roster, because:
  • They've never had fewer than 6 Americans in the entire team's history, but so far they only have 2 confirmed, so I expect them to add at least one more.
  • You would think that a rider like Langeveld would've announced retirement by now if he knew he was not going to stay (37 in January). He could possibly be moving to another team but then again why announce it so late?

Tanja Erath is also confirmed to stay with the team.

Lawson Craddock joins Team Bike Exchange - A good signing who will provide quality support for team leaders BUT more importantly he can win races with better race craft.

Doesn't sound like he's going there to win races:

“[Craddock] is a world-class time trial specialist and a guy who is renowned for getting stuck in and rolling his sleeves up for his teammates,” said directeur sportif Matt White.

What are your most exciting transfers for the next season? The ones you are most interested in?

My top5:
Almeida to UAE
Hodeg to UAE
Higuita to Bora
Storer to Groupama
Vlasov to Bora
The one that doesnt fit ;)
This season Colnago didn’t even give Kristoff and Gaviria a proper aero frame (source: https://www.betsson.com/no/blogg/annen-sport/sykling/alexander-kristoff-vakner-vm-dyret-i-tide/ ), so sprinters are not really prioritized at UAE. I struggle to see much excitement about Hodeg.

Your link isn't working.

Anyway, you could also say that for example Quickstep don't prioritize any of their riders but also slow them down by making all of them riding disc brake bikes.:D
But in comparison, UAE actually prioritze Pogacar by letting him ride v-brakes in the toughest mountain stages of the Tour.

The main reason you see riders using particular equipment is what bike companies want to advertise to the market at the moment, and they intentionally exaggerate the gains from aero vs climbing frames etc. Few years ago cobbles designated bikes were pushed very hard by the companies so 3/4 of the peloton was riding Roubaix on such bikes (and then Hayman won it on an aero bike, which was supposed to be unrideable on the cobbles). This year, most of the riders rode P-R on aero bikes, beacuse that's the bike segment which sells best now.

The link might not work in some countries as its a blog on a betting website. But it's written by Jarle Fredagsvik which is nr1 cycling journalist in Norway with good contact with Team Kristoff.
Does any top sprinter except the UAE boys race without Aero frames?
