RCS are no strangers to pressuring teams to not bring a rider they don't want, like with CCC and Rebellin. Whereas Di Luca, Scarponi, Pellizotti, Basso, Vino etc. were completely fine.

Aqua & Sapone actually was excluded because they signed Di Luca in 2012 and intended to sign Rasmussen in 2008.

Rebellin & Schumacher both had to be left home by CCC. Although Schumacher initially was told to be fine to start the Giro d'Italia.

Di Luca kinda tricked his way into the Vini Fantini 2013 Giro d'Italia squad. Initially Scinto didn't want him to be part of the team. But sponsor obligations forced him to include killer. Sinkewietz would've been okay though, without his positive test.

Hondo was left out by Androni Giocatolli. Although that might have been due to building the 2008 Giro d'Italia team around Gilberto Simoni.

Don't forget Ulissi, Petacchi and all the other Salbutamol related short bans, those are probably easier to compare to the whole Quintana situation.
Yeah, but the Quintana situation seems a lot less problematic. I guess maybe ASO don't want him at their races, but I really doubt that anyone at RCS cares. Otherwise you only need one of your sponsors to sponsor one of the bigger RCS races and all the problems will go away.

I have decided to make a quick recap of the situation for the former B&B riders!

Has gotten WT contract:
Mozzato, Bonnamour, and Koretzky. + Laurance from at the earliest next year, with the option to move up this year.

Has gotten PT contract:
Barthe and Schönberger.

Has gotten CT contract:
Barbier, Warlop, and Laurance (until he moves to WT as described above). Same goes for their stagiare, Mahoudo

Has gotten CLUB contract:
Jauregui, Chevalier, Boileau, and Lagree. Same goes for their stagiares, Rouland and Dauphin.

Still in limbo:
Debusschere, Gougeard, Lietaer, Lecroq, Heidemann, and Parisella.

Retired:
Rolland, Hivert, Gautier, Lemoine, Ferasse, and Morice.

Lecroq should still have something to offer, so it's surprising not to see him picked up by some smaller French or maybe Spanish team. Heidemann, with his decent TT, could maybe also be useful, and he's still young. Debusschere, Lietaer and Gougeard are finished, I'm afraid.

James Whelan has indicated he's off to Europe and he's selling a bunch of bike kit before he goes on fb. An indication he's got a contract somewhere there? I can't imagine he'd be selling kit and moving without one.
He certainly deserves one after performing at the Australian nationals.

I fly to Barcelona later in the month and will be ready to start my season strong and with passion", is what he posted on Instagram a couple of days ago, so at least the moving-part seems to be unrelated to any contract

Something went wrong in 2022 - After the Aussie Nationals he went with Bridgelane to Europe but only rode half their program with limited prospects - He could be riding for a club team.

It’s possible he pushed himself to hard to be ready for the Australian summer and just couldn’t hold that form for the races in Europe.

Nairoman to Team Corratec would be a wild move, but the guy started following them on Instagram very recently. I believe it's the only cycling team he follows there besides Movistar.

I would be surprised but since I already got right two or three MTB moves this way this season, let's put it here for posterity.

Still kinda surprised that Bonifazio was willing to sign with Wanty for a minimum salary. He could probably make more as a leader/co-leader on an Italian PCT team (or on another PCT team that still needs a sprinter) and it's not like he's a cobbles specialist who need to race those specific races either. Going from living in Monaco to a minimum salary is kinda rough...

Too early for him to go to an Italian PCT team.

Smaller French and Belgium races suit him very well and he signed with a team that rides most of them. He will get some opportunities and if he delivers he may get renewed with better salary or gets a chance somewhere else.
