Patrick Lefevere said during the Flandrien awards that Soudal-Quickstep got a new rider, but didn't want to disclose the name yet because the rider might not have said this to his current team. His contract was over with his current team anyway now in 2023, but I guess they were also discussing a new one.

So basically a rider whose contract was ending in 2023, and doesn't have a new team yet is going to SQS. Someone in this list maybe?

de la cruz?

Pöstlberger to SQS would make most sense, I‘d say…

I guess this is what you meant to say, but his new team is actually Euskaltel ;)

There's clearly something wrong with the auto correct on my phone when it changes Euskaltel to Cofidis. It should rather be the other way around.

Come on... now you're just messing around.

Nothing gets passed you.

It's interesting that Canyon SRAM has promoted Justyna Czapla to the WWT team already. I would have thought they would have given her another year on the Generation team, although we don't know for sure they'll have two teams next year.

We know that Agua Marina Espinola, who I personally believe has the prettiest name in the cycling world, hasn't managed to convince Lauke & Co. that she deserves a WWT spot, but I hope she'll soon be confirmed somewhere else.

How many attempts at teams getting an old band back together have we seen now? Dimension Data already tried being an HTC reunion before, we don't need another one.

well, lately sauf some rare Lutsenko wins and some UCI points in Asian races, the main Astana win was Cav's Giro stage. so I say welcome the band back to Astana and go all-in for that Tour stage win (I am very biased I know ahah)

He has only performed in one of the last four years, yet he was on the verge of winning the Covid Roubaix.

I would guess he comes with a barely minimum salary, with bonus for performing. If that would be the case, it is a low risk, high reward signing.

Would have been the perfect QS signing until a couple years ago. I'm not sure they can still revive his career as they did with some other riders in the past but as you say it's worth the risk if he's on low salary.

Moscon's performance is inversely related to his behaviour. The last few years he had no scandals or incidents and has been sh*t in the bike. Back in 2016-19 he was all the time being an idiot and getting great results. Hopefully remco can reignite his hatred again, but help him find a better outlet for it than people from different backgrounds or riders who inconveniently ride next to him on peloton. Could be a good worker for Fausto I
in Lombardia .

Moscon fits the mold of the typical Quickstep rider. They always motivate themselves by having an "us vs. the world" mentality, a lot of rancour and testosterone. That seems to suit Moscon just fine.

yeah, the post was more about him not being too visible the past couple of years.
Maté did have his most visible year since then in 2023 though, albeit only at the Volta a Portugal, since at 39 he's just hit peak years for it, so watching that would be the only time you'd realistically have seen him. He was apparently more successful in PCS and CQ points in 2021, but that was all through anonymous placings, at least in 2023 he got a win plus a 2nd and a 3rd on back to back stages in the Volta along with a top 5 on GC.

The Belgian CT team Materiel-Velo now has a French sponsor, "Philippe Wagner-Bazin", and aims to step up to PT level in 2025.

As this obviously needs some French riders, they a.o. have signed both Barbier brothers, Alexis Guerin and Alan Boileau (ex B&B) - plus, for the big name: Stefano Museeuw.

Does the french DN1 team with the same sponsor still exist separately or merge with this conti team, as it doesn't really mention that?

Santiago Umba signs with Astana.

Does anybody know what happens with the former Androni Giocatolli / Selle Italia team? Savio talked about a return to the pro contentinal circuit for 2024 last fall, but GW Shimano - Sidermec hasn't a single rider listed for 2024.

End of the road for the legendary team which brought José Rujano to an epic 3rd place at the 2005 Giro d'Italia?

CT Level, If anything at all...

There was an interview with Savio on bici.pro recently. They plan to continue on CT level, maybe do a couple more "higher profile races" (he mentions Sibiu, so 2.1) than this year, and the team will consist mainly of young South American riders and a couple of Italians.

Savio himself is currently recovering from a vertebral fracture, but hopes to be back on his feet soon.

According to Ciro (Twitter) Moscon is the 27th QuickStep-rider! Underwhelming.

Well, according to PCS - who we know only updates their lists once a signing/extention has been confirmed by the team - QS is still only at 25, with Moscon. So, remind me who the last two riders rumoured to join/have extended are.
Of course, it is possible that the last two riders have in fact been announced, but that PCS just hasn't seen it yet.
