Gusev has made his comeback:

Great news… Hope to see him back at maybe Astana soon, so that he could win a TdS MTF next year, like he did on Grimselpass 2007. Welcome back, Gusev :)

At least at Jayco, Groenewegen gets to ride a GT every year.
Well, good for him. I'm pretty sure Kooij will get a GT each year at Visma as well. I'd be surprised if Kooij would get better paid, and get more opportunities at another team. Spots for the Tour are hard to get. There are not many good teams without a current sprinter, where he would get a solid lead out.

I thought it was 'strongly rumoured' she was off to Visma.......
Indeed, that has been widely reported.

Kooij would get better opportunities to ride GT's at about 16 WT teams. Riding a GT ( not necessarily the TDF ) is part of a riders development which he will not get at Visma. Anyway, he is the one making the decisions.

Kristian Blummenfelt says it's 90% sure he'll switch to road cycling next season and is looking to do the Tour in 2026 and will fight for the yellow jersey by 2028. No contract signed yet though hence the 90%.

Didn't realize this was in the plans for him. Fighting for the yellow jersey at age 34 seems a bit unrealistic, and he'd have to go a pretty serious body transformation even to become a classics-type rider.

TBH, if Kooij had signed with DSM he would've started the TdF instead of Jakobsen

That would probably have been beneficial for all involved (arguably even Jakobsen). But the catch is of course that DSM had already signed Jakobsen, who probably is quite well paid and DSM's budget is relatively limited.

I'm not saying that Kooij is ideally placed at Visma. He did ride a grand tour this year, but he's currently unlikely to ride the Tour. But many other teams already have a well paid sprinter under contract. A team might want to acquire a (better) second sprinter, but money is often a limiting factor. And some teams (Ineos) are somehow unwilling to sign sprinters who is not Elia Viviani.
