I understand the logic of paying someone like Froome to race against you, less so the logic of paying an actual star to race against you. This is advanced level muppetry.
Very common in big mainstream sports for teams to agree to pay a portion of the contract when player is at a new team. Usually it’s when a team agreed to a huge $$ contract years earlier to sign him, but the player is no longer playing at same level and/or the original wants to free up some of that money for other contracts.
But most of those sports have league-mandated spending caps which forces teams to make more of those type transactions.

Hmm... didn't even notice this name change.

So, is it safe to assume they're gonna sign Buttigieg for next year? I feel like a team that has "VisitMalta" in it's name might wanna have a Maltese rider on contract. Even if he was originally imported from Australia.

(They might even try to snatch up Mifsud.)

It was the reason Buttigieg was signed by them in the first place. VisitMalta has sponsored the team since the 2022 Giro.

By overpaying someone else lol? It's pretty easy. Like I said above, Van Gils is the contingency plan (or at least one of the options), but he has also an offer from Red Bull and Lotto still has to agree too. There was a meeting planned this week between Carera and Lotto, not sure what the outcome is tho.
Perhaps I was being sarcastic?
I'm sure it will all work out in the end with most parties reasonable happy. Well agents at least.

Sounds like the title of an ill advised travelogue documentary:
Mirko Maestri explores the island nature reserve of Comino;
Davide Piganzoli tries snorkelling at Mellieha Bay;
The Bais brothers take a tour of architectural heritage of the times of the knights hospitaller;
Germán Gómez has his first taste of octopus stew;
other episodes to follow.

Well Mifsud is the better rider of the two. I'd go for him.

Kern Haus were the official partner of BORA before the Rookie team came to life. Quite frankly, that partnership did more harm than good, riders’ level dropped off a cliff whilst under their guidance.

Do you know why they never had any of the Haus Boys guest-ride for Bora?

Seems by the time they needed to snatch up a Maltese rider, Buttigieg was the only one available.
Probably because Mifsud was still French.

Do you know by chance who was responsible to coach the Bora riders while on Lotto Kern Haus?

I catched some social media by Romet Pajur in the summer where he was training with the Auto Eder boys and he posted something along the lines of "great to be back with the best coach there is".

Nevertheless, Pajur's 2 years with them were disappointing, even more because Lotto Kern Haus rode some races where it should be expected for him to shine with the promise he came out of the juniors. On that note, or Lotto Kern Haus change drastically the calendar they use to do or I fail to see how that would be appealing for the type of riders Ineos usually focus on.
