ah ok. I have no experience in it but how many riders do such U23 development teams usually have?

16 max (without "specialists). Don't think Red Bull will have 16, but they also won't end with 11. The article doesn't say that the selection is completely, just "as of now". Widar is coming sooner or later, the question is just when cause it depends on how quickly all the legal stuff is handled.

Will they keep Widar on the developmental team?
I think there are still two spots left on the World tour team. So if they sign him, I think they will sign him for the world tour and build a program for him like they did with Cian. Small stage races and depending on form and progression some bigger races. But I can´t see Widar leaving Lotto to join another Devo team.

As far as I know Widar himself doesn't want to go pro yet. And while I never understood it before, with the Worlds/EC rulechange (you can only ride it if youre not pro) I now understand it. His main goals will be Avenir and Worlds next year.

So unless something changed last few weeks, yes he will be in the devo team, while riding some pro races of course. It's not like there is a big difference anyways. You just can't ride WT races if you're not in the WT team, and I don't think that's necessary already.

SD Worx for sure doesnt look like a fantastic place atm. Reminds me a tiny little bit on INEOS
I´m not so negative for SD Worx at the moment. They loose some of their strongest riders (Vollering, Reusser..) but due to that fact they got a bit more silence in and around the squad and its not always the obvious conflict between Kopecky and Vollering.
It will be exciting to see how Anna van der Breggen will return, if she can be a factor in hilly/mountain races. If she is preparing her racing since the announcement than she can be a real surprise.
Otherwise I see a lack of power in the squad for mountain stages and stage races that includes high mountains.

Kopecky will be the leader for stage racing and heavier one day classics, Wiebes will lead the sprints. Behind these clear leaders they have potential and partly proven high rollers like Bredewold, Vas, Schreiber and Lach.
So SD Worx will be the team to beat in classics, sprints and one day races.

But yes, other teams are passing SD Worx in terms of stage racing and moutain stages. It will be interesting to see if teams like Visma, Canyon Sram, FDJ Suez and Lidl Trek can make the mountain races that hard that Kopecky (and maybe van der Bregge) are isolated and can not do the Vollering tactic (go to the front and ride that hard on your own that all others drop).

Errr... what?

Teams

I think there have been a mistake here. If it was a case of her maybe not being ready for the WWT just yet, wouldn't it be easier to sign her with the UAE devo team, and then move her up sometimes later... while also letting her ride select races for the WWT team?

It was just a mistake in the database. She's only gonna ride for UAE next year (unless something unforeseen happens).

Since the Reusser to Movistar rumour already appeared early in the season, I wasn't sure the move was still on. 3 seasons seems like a lot, considering the uncertainty regarding her health, but perhaps they've agreed on a lower salary in exchange for a longer duration.

Van den Broek-Blaak will stay at SDW, which didn't seem like a certainty after she wasn't selected for the Tour, but I assume she and Stam & Co. must have reconciled since then.

Hope Chiara can get back to her level from last year. A bit underwhelming this year on the road.

I think she's pretty much done as well as in the previous two seasons, including winning yet another Giro stage. The main difference from last year, is that she didn't ride the Tour or the Chinese races due to the Olympics and track WC.

It will be interesting to see if CSR can get even more out of her though.

I'm expecting you to make that face every time you write her name.

Who's saying I haven't always done that?

But although I do associate that emoji with her and Miley Cyrus, I'm not sure either of them has actually posed like that for the cameras in quite a while now.

Yeah not too bad overall but expected more in the classics here. Almost got dropped every time I hoped she could be even better than last year. New chances next year.

Hmm... didn't even notice this name change.

Getting old here, now using glasses, reading it as Team Politt Vismalta or Politt visitVisma.
Team Polti sends me directly back to 90ies high...

It will make some difference for the CQmanager game though. He's not gonna be a Del Toro level pick if he's only riding u-23 races half the year.
