If the same deal was on the table for Axel as for Danny I would've taken it in a heartbeat tbf, but if you know more do tell

(I mean really, I'm intrigued to know :) )

But that deal was never on the table? It was for Danny, who only has a pro contract now because in the end it wasn't Lotto agreeing but Euskatel. His dad isn't dumb, he's one of the worst pro riders in the peloton. He would be without a job without him.

So, do I understand this correctly?
Danny (Polish) Van der Tuuk is the less talented of the two, despite being the one who's pro?

Yes. However when he's actually paying to ride he's not really a pro. But when only the points from 20 of your riders count, you can afford to have one guy who's crab if he brings in enough money to pay for someone who isn't.

Haha yes, as discussed a week ago I think in (mostly) the PCT teams there are riders which bring their own sponsors to have a pro contract. In the past also with Vini Fantini, Wanty Groupe Goubert, Burgos among others. And ofc you can point at the Kulsets and Naberman haha.

Tour de France 2011. Remember being a big Contador-fan in that period when he joined Saxobank, screaming at my TV when the obviously 5 kg too big Noval was dropped instantly on the TTT!
In fairness to the older Noval, it was Bruyne/Armstrong who took him in and later on shifted loyalty to Contador being his fellow espanol. Because of his size, Noval's role in the team was to protect Armstron or Contador in the flats. When Noval retired, Contador became prone to crashes.

Well, those and also the ones where the sponsor demands a rider come with them. Sometimes it's a token rider of the sponsor's nationality or two, and sometimes it's specific riders. Scinto's comments about some of the riders he was asked to take on for the Venezuelan sponsorships (and in the end choosing to take on some riders with worse results but whose hematocrit values were at least lower than their weights) were pretty memorable.

Doubt ASO wants Groenewegen more than Pidcock or Total (French lobby won't accept that).

2027 seems more realistic imo.

Agree and Groenewegen has to keep his form. I'm interested in how groenewegen will adapt, notwithstanding he'll have a good sprint train because Tietema Rockets ride lots of one day races, while Groenewegen prefers stage races.

Not sure that is the most welcome development as it will turn an entertaining attacking team into one working for a sprint in most races.

According to l'Equipe Cofidis is in advanced talks with Cosnefroy, who also has serious interest from PicNic.

Cofidis would finally have his big French leader and a points scorer who would probably secure that top 3 every year for the wildcards.
