Probably gets announced during the Tour or shortly after.
He's already been riding for the Ag2r u19 team for this season, so stepping up into the u23 part of the setup makes sense. While he's obviously not french like Grégoire, it'd be bad to lose another one of their talents to another team.Rumblings of the Big Aussie named Oscar Chamberlain stepping up to AG2R CT next year. It's logical, but I had expected Jayco to throw themselves in the mix for Chambo after missing out on Plappers initially. Not many young Aussies to chose from currently.
I posted earlier this year that Chamberlain would end up at AG2R or a European team and was slapped down by Samamba - He's a different story in that he's been racing in Europe for periods of the year since he was 12, so is well acquainted with Europe - Let's face it if you are riding on the CT squad you will get starts in the WT squad - Jayco are very interested in fellow juniors McKenzie and Rogers - They have not quite come on this year so I imagine Jayco or other teams will wait another year.Rumblings of the Big Aussie named Oscar Chamberlain stepping up to AG2R CT next year. I know riders are regularly skipping the u23 category but Jatco also have nowhere directly under them (yet) to keep aussie riders.
Big Chambo is breaking the mould of what'd you'd normally expect from an Aussie. In a world of climbers, sprinters and TT'ers he and his mullet will shine in Roubaix.I posted earlier this year that Chamberlain would end up at AG2R or a European team and was slapped down by Samamba - He's a different story in that he's been racing in Europe for periods of the year since he was 12, so is well acquainted with Europe - Let's face it if you are riding on the CT squad you will get starts in the WT squad - Jayco are very interested in fellow juniors McKenzie and Rogers - They have not quite come on this year so I imagine Jayco or other teams will wait another year.
Plapp - Jayco was outbid by Ineos who offered him a contract of close to half a million for three years - Of course, Plapp wanted a team who would support his ambitions for the 2024 Olympics - The best three teams in the peleton for this are Ineos, Jayco and Quickstep - Apparently he was offered even more money by UAE - Anyway, Plapp is number one on Jayco's wish list for 2025.
You are right about the lack of juniors and under 23's in mens and womens coming through the Aussie system - There are Aussie PCT teams riding a continental calendar in Europe this year and they are finding the going to be tough.
Maybe it's because of what has been said previously, but I do seem to remember that some of the younger australians have struggled in their first seasons at the team. Particularly the more climber/gc type, although i'd not say Chamberlain is exactly one of those.Jayco will join up with Hagens Axeon under 23 team in 2024 - Even though there are a couple of Aussie CT teams riding a European calendar in 2023, it's not the same as having your own under 23 team - There is a feeling in the Australian cycling community that Jayco does not give enough leadership to Aussie neo-pro riders, so some Aussie riders avoid the team - This is a bit of a myth because I remember for example, Ewan and Groves given leadership in races when they were stagiares.
Quintana to Quick Step?
WFT?
Martin Tjotta is currently killing the French amateur scene (and a likely Arkea signing).Since AG2R been mentioned a lot on the last page: apparently AG2R are the ones that are close to secure Torstein Træen if he decides to leave Uno-X and go to the WT next season.
Seems like a kind of strange transfer to me, hasnt been much success with Norwegian riders in french teams since Thor Hushovd.
He's not even 34.5 yet.
If nothing else Torstein is waaaaay more professional and dedicated than what turned out to be the burning carwreck of Sondre Holst EngerSince AG2R been mentioned a lot on the last page: apparently AG2R are the ones that are close to secure Torstein Træen if he decides to leave Uno-X and go to the WT next season.

That's not really a reason to never try to hire a Norwegian rider again.Seems like a kind of strange transfer to me, hasnt been much success with Norwegian riders in french teams since Thor Hushovd.
No but it might be a reason for Norwegian riders to not want to go to French teamsThat's not really a reason to never try to hire a Norwegian rider again.
So if you're going to say something like this, can you show me? Cause I really don't remember saying anything about Chamberlain to you and I don't seem to find it either. I even went through all the messages I quoted you in and nothing to see.
That being said, even tho I probably didn't say it I indeed did not thought he would end up at AG2R no, cause they didn't have a CT team yet. Having a CT team obviously changes everything.
AG2R has had the Chambery Cyclisme Foundation as an under 23 team since 2001. And my post stated that Chamberlain would most likely end up with an European Team and not Jayco - He's a super talent and it will be interesting to see how he develops.
So why are you saying "slapped down by Samamba" then? I have seen that post yes, but I never responded to that at all. Not sure why you're being weird here mentioning me.
Chambéry is NOT a continental team. AG2R was basically losing all their talents because of that.
I only responded to you about a lot of Ewan nonsense (like he was not going to get be selected for the Tour in 2024, or that he wouldn't get support) and you saying that Cam Rogers was already under contract with BEX for 2024, which also was complete BS.
There was no Ewan nonsense - All i did was to point out that Ewan with full team support has not won a GC in his three starts, so you would question if you give him as much team support if he rode the TDF - I never stated that Rogers was under contract with BEX in 2024 but in relation to discussing the upcoming Aussie talents in Chamberlain, Rogers and Mckenzie, stated that Chamberlain would probably turn pro with an European team and that Rogers and Mckenzie were being closely monitored by Jayco.
Anyway, lets hope that Ewan can win a stage in the TDF as he has a good enough sprint train to support him.
I am interested in how Cameron Rogers of Australia performs - He's an emerging talent who only turns 18 in December - I suspect he's already signed a WT contract with BEX.
Well if Ewan fails to win a stage at this TDF then it will be three consecutive Gt's without a stage win - Then you'll find in 2023 that he'll have less team support.
I doubt Lotto D'stny can take Ewan to the TDF unless he fights more in the final.
If you have a leader who does not win a stage in three consecutive tours then of course you have less support riders or the riders you want
and the wildest rumour is about Astana signing Quintana for the Vuelta.
