What Kazakh will they convince he actually really needs some more time with the Devo squad?
Who knows. Maybe Zeits will feel an urgent need to retire. Or Nurlykhassym will need to take a four months hiatus in order to complete a certain set of studies.

so, @Jumbot, who exactly habitually refers to him as 'Uncle Sam'?

I suspect I am the only one who refers to him, internally at least, as the Eggman, but I wouldn't try to make an announcement based on it.
I personally call him like that, as Ricco said already, whenever I read articles on WF with Google translate, it translates to "Uncles" from dutch, so therefore Uncle Sam. I thought more people knew about this word play

Fortunato to Astana, Albanese and Andrea Bagioli to Arkea, according to Italian cycling media.
Quickstep, Trek and EF are interested in Fabbro, Trentin in Tudor and the wildest rumour is about Astana signing Quintana for the Vuelta.
Some nice transfers there. Bagioli and Alabanese seem perfect for the Arkea pack and their schedule. Fortunato should get lots more WT opportunities at Astana, but then so would anyone half-decent.

According to Ciro, Bagioli is headed to Lidl-Trek, not to Arkea. I thought a move to Arkea would make a lot of sense for Bagioli (French calendar would suit him a lot).

Consonni is also rumoured to Trek, where he would serve as Milan's leadout.

So going on the various rumours, that's a fair revamp at Lidl-Trek this offseason, interesting.

Oomen, Konrad, Tao, Consonni, Milan and Bagioli (apologies if I missed any) all linked to arrive

17 riders out of contract and Tiberi already gone. Gallopin reported to stay by Benson, Baroncini linked away on this forum and Hoelgaard been linked back to Uno-X for a while. Certainly a fair few candidates who could be let go, I'd expect Kirsch, Theuns, Simmons to stay to name a few

Not convinced by Consonni as a leadout man, a 60kg guy like him gets manhandled rather easy when things get a bit physical. Also, how is a little guy like him supposed to give Milan a proper slipstream? Don't get me wrong, he's a fine rider and good in a sprint after a harder, more hilly stage, but leadout man is probably not the right job for him. Using him a bit earlier in the sprint train to do a long pull (after all he's part of the Italian TP team) is probaby better.
If they want a leadout man they should go for someone like Ballerini or Vernon, not Consonni just because he's Milan's track cycling buddy.

Carlos Rodriguez, Pelayo Mayo and Davide Formolo to Movistar for 2 years, they will put pen to paper tomorrow. Raul Garcia Pierna and Xabier Mikel Azparren are also on their lists, but yet to sign anything.

Wow, disaster for Ineos, but great for Spanish cycling. Thrilled about that one.

Who's Pelayo Mayo though?

Relatively young climber from Burgos who came through the ranks of Gomur. Has been pro with them for a while, but had his big breakthrough this year on Mallorca and a stage win in Asturias. Never been the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to talent, but I think he can be of decent service in the mountains and in smaller Spanish races. Don't expect the next Nieve though.

Thanks!

Really stoked about the Rodriguez signing. Mas doesn't have what it takes in France, Carlos might have in a year or two.

Igor Arrieta to UAE
This is the flip side for Movistar. The Carlos Rodríguez signing probably made this impossible, but they had him in their development ranks, he looked a million bucks, but he got placed in Kern Pharma while riders from outside the Lizarte (now Galibier-Finisher) ranks had to be brought directly to Movistar to secure their signatures. Then when it would be time for them to promote him to the WT team, they fired his dad. He will be a very useful rider for UAE in time.

Who's Pelayo Mayo though?
Pelayo Sánchez Mayo, so Mayo is his maternal surname, but obviously Sánchez being super common means he often goes by both or the maternal one. He's 23 and pretty decent, DNP points out his main results this season as something of a breakout, but it is well worth noting that Burgos-BH are somewhat weaker than Caja Rural or the other Basque-Navarrese teams in terms of development so that will factor in to assessing his potential. He's seemingly best in punchy and medium mountain terrain.

Aznar brothers next hopefully but I suspect Hugo at least needs another year on the amateur scene, Unai might be promoted to Kern Pharma.

Oh, and Cadena has spent part of the year at Telco'm which is a team outside of their own umbrella that Movistar like to scout, not been as standout this year as last but the raw talent is undeniable. Unzué might like Marc Cabedo more out of the guys in their ranks though, he's more an Unzué kind of guy than Cadena who is perhaps more of a risk and a lopsided skillset but has easily the higher potential upside if he delivers to his talent level.

Go @ him on Twitter and tell him what his actual name is.
Pelayo Sanchez Mayo, anyways, by his full twitter name.

I've never seen him on a startlist or official document being called "Pelayo Mayo" so I think it made sense to clarify the rider you were referring to.

Thought they wanted to sign Manlio Moro aswell? Any news regarding this?
