Tbf "announced" not long after his Giro injury/crash

No, rumours might have started then.
Nobody pulled a stunt similar to that one time the segafredo CEO accidentally let slip that Nibali was joining the team, before he was actually allowed to do so.

It came out today that Raul Garcia Pierna is on the verge of leaving Kern Pharma. Not very surprising news in itself, it's been said for a long time. But what is surprising is that his likely destination is freaking Arkea. Unzue just doing everything in his power to not sign talented Spaniards. With some proper training, management and staff this boy will take off. He is still carrying around baby weight from way back when he was obese.

The rumours were strong enough from sources I trust, I took it as a done deal fwiw

I believe during Vuelta somebody will make an announcement. I believe Ineos wants to keep him. He improves year by year. He might win a Vuelta or Giro soon enough.
I doubt that might is good enough for Ineos. They should put all their eggs into the Remco basket

I don’t see him winning the TDF though, which is still the goal of the wealthiest team.
Very possible. He is still very young of cause and we have no clue how long Pogi and especially Vingegaard can keep it up, nor do we know which younger riders will come through the ranks and do well or when or how high Remco peaks.

But I think Remco will at least give INEOS someone to build around and he will provide big wins for them. Makes everything easier when you are getting decent results including development of the next crop of younger riders they get their hands on.

A few years ago I would called this a steal, now not so much. Maybe a new environment will do him good, but I am very disappointed with how Bagio has developed. In his time with Colpack I was sure he was going to be a rider who'd be a perennial candidate to ride for podiums in the Ardennes classics and Lombardia. After a promising start he has stagnated quite a bit. Every once in a while he will put in a performance that has you thinking he has finally arrived, but then he just goes back to how it always was right after.

Dude was insane at Colpack. Absolutely no idea how he's been so disappointing as a pro. I do think it's possible that Trek can get him back on track, I sometimes see flashes of his talent.

His first year at Quickstep was good, but it looks like he got lost afterwards.

Any update on Rodriguez with the INEOS and Movistar kerfuffle?
Apparently Carlos Verona has changed his mind and is likely to remain with Movistar (which might tie into the Garcia Pierna to Arkea rumors).

Say what you want about Movistar, but Verona is one of the best doms in the business and losing him would be a real blow to Unzue’s squad.

Maybe going to a partly Italian team (if they still are with Lidl instead of Segafredo) will help. I always wanted Bagioli to do well but yeah, he's been largely invisible. To be fair most of lefevere's stars except for that one guy have been bad recently.
