A decent signing by Jayco who will assist their poor Classics squad. The next transfer season is the one where Jayco will move with Matthews, Groenwegen and Ewan out of contract. And only one of these will be renewed.
ATM Groene would be my clear cut pick.

Meaningless signing imo. They already have "engine room" riders that can't get indivdual results. Jayco needs riders who can do just that!

Actually, if you look at the 2024 results, Jayco is running second for most individual riders winning races in 2024. They have enough riders to win races. It would be good if they won a few more races.

I think @Pozzovivo has a bit of a point. They only have one win at WT level this season. Most of their wins are stages in small stage races. No wins in somewhat prestigious semi-classics either, only a few obscure 1.1 races. And some national championships. Apart from Groenewegen's Tour stage win and his Dutch NC (and I guess you can add Plapp's NC for home race significance), their wins are basically the lowest-hanging fruit possible for a WT team.

Not that I think Sütterlin is a bad signing though.

Without Mathews wheelsucking his way to a couple of monument podiums, jayxo classics squad is nonexistent

Gronewgen is no doing anything in the classics. Ewen might be competitive in sanremo again next year but I don't see him offering more than Mathews.

For the big classics they have a bunch of gregarios (reindeers, suttelin, walsheid, gamper, juil Jensen etc) but no competitive riders

The winners are all in the GC and going for stages in smaller races. Zana, double, plap, Schmidt, Ewen, Bowman, engelhart, gronewegen, Dunbar

It looks like their classics strategy for 2025 is just having 5 big engines to pull Mathews back into contention every time he misses the winning move

Jayco's poor classic squad goes back to when they signed Trentin. They promised him lots of support which never eventuated. What the team lacks is the B and C grade Belgium/Dutch riders who can achieve results in one day races.

Fully agree with @Squire. I Just don't see what Sutterlin offers to a classic team. 25 monument starts and 22nd best result.

Maybe he can be a good lead-out train man for Groene and Ewan? But I think a 31 yo WT riders who's been doing it a while is quite expensive compared to what he offers.

Walscheid can do a top 10 in Paris-Roubaix and be a supporting rider in other cobbled classics, but you're not wrong...
Schmidt can potentially do something in hilly one day races, but signing more big engines and JTL 2.0 from Poli-Kometa won't really improve their results in one day races.

think someone with all the opportunities that guy had to ride for himself need to win races, not just get 9th overall or whatever that just translates to 28th place in some big stage race

how long before ALULA takes full ownership of the Jayco-Alula team? Gerry Ryan won't be splashing the cash forever
