I'm hoping Blake Quick can find somewhere to be a lead out guy. He did it well for Ewan when given the chance in a few races. I reckon he'd pair well with Groves at Alpecin, just a bit smoother than Plowright IMO.

Really? Ok.
In an interview he said he is not yet allowed to talk to teams.
But that is just the „blabla“ official version of it and he already has found an agreement with EF?
Good for EF, happy for them

I think ManicJack is joking. rumors are either Astana or Redbull. EF won't overpay riders compared to what Lotto pays. Astana and Redbull would.

Nice to see Bezza sign with the WBX2. He was on fire in the Belgium Tour before crashing out. He might just be the surprise next year during the French TT championships.

Which of the Red Bull transfers would you put in that category? Most experts pretty much like what they did
I think most of their signings for next season can possibly fit that description.
Lazkano, Pithie and Tratnik are all great riders, but they don’t win much. The three of them combined won 3 races last season, and only Tratnik won a big race. It’s not unrealistic that they go next season without big wins.

Finn Fischer Black is also a very good rider, but he’s only been winning smaller races so far. Pellizari and the Van Dijk brothers are also good riders, but not winners.

I think one can think they have done a good transfer window and at the same time think they have signed riders that won't win all that much in the end.

Kinda hard to sign riders who win much cause most of the important races are won by a handful of riders who are not reachable for Red Bull it seems. Your next best bet (if you have unlimited money) is sign a lot of talented young guys and hope one of them makes the next step the upcoming years. It's no rocket science.

Why would he be overpaid? We don’t even know how much Lotto is paying and what he expects now

He has a almost 2M a year offer. Yes, he will be overpaid. His salary is around 600k/year + bonusses (mainly about wins, not UCI points) at Lotto.

Definitively, which fits perfectly fine the “good riders, but likely wont win much” line Red Rick said.

From the 7 riders i mentioned, who of them look like serial winners? I’d put my money on Pithie as the one to win 5 races for Bora first, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it takes more than 2 years to reach this number. Tratnik, Pellizari and FBB have the skill set to win big from a breakaway, but it’s a lot of riders in this category, and these victories doesn’t come easy.

Van Gils for 2M jfc I thought Russia had inflation issues

It might be the Astana offer he got (he doesn't want to go there as far as I know), but that's at least the offer his management showed Lotto some weeks ago. I mean, it could be exaggerated, I wasn't present, that just what I've been told by team sources. Could also just be manager talk, but no doubt this guy will be overpaid next couple of seasons (unless he keeps growing massively but I have some doubts about that).

Funny thing is that those guys felt disrespected when Lotto laughed at that and just said no. I mean what do they even do, matching that or even coming close to that would be ridiculously stupid.

No one, they have to come out of the youth categories (they are trying with Widar for example) probably or they need to stop trying to think they can beat Pogacar or Vingegaard for the Tour win and just go for Kooij next transfer window.

And tbf, Pelizzari could be a winner in GTs, which obviously has a lot of value. Van Gils fills up a hole they had in some classics (if Roglic doesn't ride them), so i think it would be a fine transfer for the right money (Red Bull doesn't care about money so yeah there's that) and Pithie is definitely someone who possible could make the next step.

Completely agree. There are like 5-7 riders who won several big races this year.
If you cannot sign one of them then try to develop the next one. If it does not work out..what have you lost? Alternative would have been to do what exactly?
If it works out you struck gold.

In addition those riders can also help you in a GT!

So I don’t really get the point what’s wrong with this strategy I guess

That’s a lot, but then again if there are multiple teams with a bigger budget the whole wage market will increase

Also say what you want about Vaughters and his business degree, but I think it's pretty obvious to him that he'd be bringing a knife to a gun fight if he was to start having riders on other teams tearing up their contract for him to sign them.

Ya, many of those could more be viewed as making the squad stronger for various purposes. Between Tratnik, Pithie, Lazkano and the Van Dijk brothers you have a pretty good line up for the cobbled classics. There you have to have riders that are strong enough to stay in contention and once you have good numbers contesting the final it's anyones choice who can be there and get a good result.

FFB did have 3 wins plus a TTT this year so he can certainly win races. The question is if he can do it on the highest level.

If their strategy is as you say, hope to develop the next Pogi or MVDP, then this is not the category of riders you should be looking at. If you take the Van Dijke brothers for instance, pretty good riders but even Visma were not that desperate to keep them, two of the very few talented Dutch youngsters in the peloton. This probably tells you something about their potential: good but not great.

This is not to say that Red Bull have had a bad transfer window, but their signings are more like possible support for a real leader than actual future winners themselves.

I guess their priority is getting the support riders and getting Widar next year + developing Finn, who is a potential long term project for the team.
