Overall a very good ride by Gaimon, but he needs to be careful on the next stage.

TDU and San Luis are both good races, but clearly the Argentinians needs to step up the coverage, otherwise the event will die or become local for sure.

They seemed to cover time trial today, but its weird to pay riders to show up then not have some live coverage if only the last 20km or whatever. Its a race with future but maybe best to stagger with the tour down under if they want put it on tv.

If the Tour de San Luis wants to become a big race, they really need to provide stable international coverage, with more than just a finish line camera with a couple of jumped up spanish commentators...

I wonder if Van Den Broek and Kangert really tested themselves, they should both be quite a bit better than Scarponi normally.

Great form by Boonen apparently, although Sagan is not that far behind!
Scarponi is an okay TTist for a climber, a bit like VDB actually. Kangert is normally better than both.

why? cycling in most south american nations is pure radio. that is very popular. you judge based on what you are used to, but what should they care. the race only gets bigger and there is no need for tv coverage as cycling is a radio sport in argentina. in brazil for instance it's a tv sport

Why is Quintana at 90% for this race, BTW? He's the only good rider to have that kind of form here, what is he out to prove?

Why wouldn't the organizers want to reach an audience in other parts of the world?

because the whole reason for this race is the state of san luis wants to bring up strong riders and talents. they have a great team with a lot of budget that also only ride in south america. they want to be the best team in argentina in surrounding nations. they have a lot of money too so they bring in strong european teams here. they will never go wt, because then they would lose their local teams. this counts for every race in latin america. they have no interesting in becoming too big and europe is not on their radar. how hard that is to understand for people here

Wait, who mentioned going WT?

Since when is having a decent TV coverage related to that?

All we ask for is live images of the race itself.

...San Luis can keep their lovely American Tour license if they so wish to.

Jeez, did not even metion wt. Just weird that it seems that they are totally uninterested in people watching their race. take it easy. We will let your south americans ride in obscurity over there while the rest of us watch some prper european racing ;)

The governor (of San Luis) said a big reason for the race was to help the region's candidacy for the youth Olympics which it hopes to host.

But I suppose you would know more about the race than the actual organizers;)

Nairo and Richie are in some good form right now.

I know a Spanish rider who sees that with great satisfaction;)

He was said to be overweight at the beginning of the race and now we get a performance like this.

Him being in this form this early in the year should be indication of something else. If he does not ride a lot of races in the build up to the Tour then it should be OK. The rules of building up to certain races during the years have changed since ~20 years ago or so. That does not mean that there are some riders who can be on form from day one to last day. But I hope Movistar don't get confused by this performance and make him ride the Giro. Besides we really don't really know if he is 70, 80 or 90 % at this moment. How do we know that. Besides, how do we know if he was trying hard to win at the beginning or the win just came to him rather easier than expected.

I think I read that somewhere, can't find it anymore. Anyway, given his TT he's obviously in some fine form, compared to his colleagues.

he said he felt 90% after his sickness earl;ier this week. meaning he doesn't feel completely fit yet. I'm sure he does now, but that was the day after he was sick. the first mountainstage

the race started in 2007(plans 2006). there was no plan to host them there. I was talking about san luis stage race original plan.
