So if the investigation into LA is over, did JV testify? I bet if he did, he would tell "the whole truth, and nothing but the truth."

Where did you hear this ? There have been very few leaks, if any, from the feds. Nothing official i've seen listed on any news websites and no new threads about this in the clinic to say the investigation is over.

if it's over what is the outcome, will this go public or just die a death

I believe that was a dig at all the "Wait for something Tuesday" and "Big news coming, maybe as early as Tuesday" posts from the armchair prognosticators.

You could plug in just about any day of the week (or any holiday) and the (bad) joke would work. Some random Tuesday last month was the latest drumroll, bombshell, watershed day.

Removing the last few posts as they are explicitly about the LA investigation and have nothing to do with this thread.

A bizarre statement on CN last week : http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/apology-to-trent-lowe

Statement from Cyclingnews

Cyclingnews.com would like to apologise to Trent Lowe for various inaccurate statements that were published about him on our news site.

Cyclingnews.com acknowledges that Trent Lowe has in no way been involved in the doping scandals surrounding Floyd Landis and Ricardo Ricco and apologises for inferring in an article in February 2011 that he was involved in doping or cheating.

Cyclingnews.com also acknowledges that it was wrong to suggest in an article in January 2011 that Mr Lowe was fired from the Garmin Cycling Team due to doping involvement with Dr Del Moral, or that he intended to blackmail Garmin.

Cyclingnews.com acknowledges that Garmin has since confirmed Mr Lowe’s innocence regarding doping; and that Mr. Lowe was in fact fired for allegedly attending another team’s training camp.

Cyclingnews.com understands that Mr Lowe consulted Dr Moral after being referred for a health check, by the former directeur sportif of Team Garmin, to Dr Moral's clinic in Valencia where Mr Lowe was living at the time. It was determined Mr Lowe was suffering from chronic fatigue at the time.

Cyclingnews.com apologises unreservedly to Mr Lowe for any damage that may have been done to his reputation.

Not sure how that's going to help him, not even sure what he's up to these days I must admit...

Maybe he's shopping around for a new contract, well I guess he would have to be, and his potential employer wanted the air to be cleared publicly? Can't think of any other reason really.

Cycling news is small beer. More interesting to me is why Garmin & Vaughters did not demand such a retraction A LONG TIME AGO.

Sounds like they received a blustering, f-bomb laden letter from Martin Hardie. Then, even though CN never linked Lowe to Ricco or Landis, they caved and published a kow towing apology for something they never did. I guess it finally dawned on the comedy duo of Lowel and Hardie that implying that you were involved in doping as leverage in a contract dispute has downsides when it comes to seeking future employment in cycling.

I recall Daniel Friebe wrote an article on Cyclingnews comparing Ricco, Landis and Lowe. The archived version now has Lowe's name removed.

That apology doesn't look to be drafted by Martin Hardie.

This is the same legal department that is apparently unable to make any sort of decision about the Joe Papp affair.

Good thing they never mentioned David Kemp. That would've really caused a legal maelstrom.

Indeed. One has to wonder if that Friebe article was deliberate or merely incompetent.

I think both, with a mixture of carelessness.

The cycling media don't hesitate to imply doping when it's a small-time rider without the resources to defend himself (particularly if he's not from an English-speaking country) but don't ask the right questions when it comes to the biggest names or English speakers. Even proven dopers get better press if they speak English - compare Valverde with Leipheimer or Danielson.

With Lowe, it seems he made the mistake of crossing JV - and JV and Garmin get a fantastic run in the English-speaking press and on Cyclingnews in particular.

I seem to remember Martin Hardie was a Spanish cycling correspondent for CN in the late 90's to the early 2000's.

I saw that article. I don't see it now, it must be archived. Was he not targeting Levi and Danielson because of some sort of loyalty issues to them or because he couldn't beat them?
