I seem to remember Jalabert's attack in MSR on the Poggio was something else but I can't find any footage. Fondriest's wasn't bad either.

I think someone's mentioned Bertogliati in the Tour.

I liked Luc Leblanc's monster gear attack on Les Arcs too.

For me the most explosive attacking rider prior to Gilbert was Bettini, maybe followed by Rebellin. But there's loads I've forgotten, bad memory see..

Which was the Contador TdF attack when he almost overshot an uphill hairpin? What that Verbier? The youtube clip earlier doesn't show that bit

feels good to revive my own threads lol

well we got a new entry.a huge one.
the witnesses:
romain bardet:"when he left,he was on the big ring"
sylvain georges:"when he attacked,it was crazy!we were at the time at 17 km/h,he was at 29 km/h honestly.at the moment of the attack,we were on a 10% ramp.i was saying to myself he will calm down but he kept the rhythm"

romain bardet:"a world tour team can take him after this"

hmmm so can we see next year a battle royale JTL-gabrovski in le tour?only god knows...

until then the images of the supersonic,pantani-like attack.he put 10 seconds faster than can you say "attack".check the motorbikes

The greatest clean performance in cycling?

Phil Gilbert's 2009 Lombardy week. 3 awesome kicks.

Gilbert in 2009 was able to win clean?
2009 the year when Cera use was at it's top. Seriously?

I always thought that was 2008.

Anyhow, Sastre's Alpe d'Huez was rather devastating on the road but its repercussions have been much greater. Probably they feed a couple shrinks even today.

Giro 2004, Damiano Cunego takes stage 18 on the Borimo 2000 climb, this is after they climbed the Gavia. If I remember right Damiano was supposed to lead out Simoni to aid him to take the Giro even though Damiano was in the leaders jersey at the time. They (team) kept saying Simoni was the teams leader and Damiano the domestique. Remember this is going uphill!

(jump to 2:07:00, or if you have 2 hours to burn watch it all)

I don't really call that an attack so much as a sprint finish.
