happy for the guy couldnt have been a more deserved winner and what a show and stage he showed the world on,,,those hills it was really mano vs mano and all the favourites was there he simply outclassed em all with such ease like always... the only guy who can match him is pog (flandern proved that) and he far from did have the best preperations towards this race, then basicly flandern all over minus pog from the ecation.

Regardless it just adds to legend of MVDP that hill vs WVA was again like always is 9 out of 10 like riding away from kids for him.

He is simply put a phenomenal freak. (go ban me cause this is really controversial apperently for someone haha)

“In any case, I didn't party," he says of the night the Tour ended in Paris. "I went to bed quite early and had an okay night. I am well rested. The World Championships is a big goal of mine this year. Now is not the time to celebrate, it is important to keep the focus for a while." - Hopefully he can hit it hard in Glasgow after the road WC race. You're only young once...

the true goat.

Nobody can accelerate on a hill like that after 250km+ nobody.
The fact he also ridden away almost 2 minutes despite a crash. Probably would have been 2m+ without the crash.
So much better than guys like Van Aert, Pogacar. UNREAL

Pogacar dropped him in Flanders. It really comes down to the length of the hill and the route leading up the final hills. A little bit like MSR vs ToF. If it comes down to a one time burst with "fresh legs" no one can match him.
Most impressive part today was the bike handling. Even after his crash it felt like he was gaining time in every single corner. On another level compared to the rest of the field.

Super strong today on the perfect course for him completely obliterating everyone. Sucks about the crash potentially hampering next week but it’s good there was no affect here. If there was race radios he might have been caught but most likely drops them again. He’s going for the triple next year of MSR, RVV, and PR and can pull it off if he rides like this year or better. I don’t really fancy his chances in PBL unless Pog and Evenepoel don’t take part. Hell of a year for MVDP.

Perfect course + peak shape = total domination. Best Mathieu I have ever seen in a bike race, and he has done lots of crazy stuff during the years.

I for one wish he was more visible throughout the the season apart from only the biggest of targets, but it is what it is. Reason I say that is because I watched with a friend who admittedly isn't super hardcore, but still knows his cycling - said he felt a bit 'meh' because he won't show the jersey off a bit more during a season. It resonates a bit with me, but I definitely don't feel meh after a champion like him just dominated the best riders in the world like this.

Leads us to a discussion we had in the past. What is his range. Already won MSR, ToF and PR. Liege is already a longshot. He finished 6th in 2019 and won an easier edition of Amstel. Feels like he is a little bit heavier and even more explosive these days. Not sure if he could repeat that right now. Lombardia seems out of reach unless they go back to one of the late 00s, early 10s routes.

This is nonsense, it's in MVDP's nature to want to attack in every race and in every stage. It's only this year that he's way more focused on his season goals, and to great success. As a triple discipline rider it makes even more sense to do so.
