Hope this crash won’t let him DNS next week. His dream of becoming triple World Champion is really close now. But it would be hard to win there. Even more with the crash.
@senna be like..“In any case, I didn't party," he says of the night the Tour ended in Paris. "I went to bed quite early and had an okay night. I am well rested. The World Championships is a big goal of mine this year. Now is not the time to celebrate, it is important to keep the focus for a while." - Hopefully he can hit it hard in Glasgow after the road WC race. You're only young once...
the true goat.
Nobody can accelerate on a hill like that after 250km+ nobody.
The fact he also ridden away almost 2 minutes despite a crash. Probably would have been 2m+ without the crash.
So much better than guys like Van Aert, Pogacar. UNREAL
FixedNext goal: win Flanders AND Roubaix in the rainbow jersey.
He at least timed his dumps better:I will reluctantly concede he is a greater rider than Tom Dumoulin
Next goal: LiegeNext goal: win Flanders or Roubaix in the rainbow jersey.
well you got what you hoped for.after his solo in Sanremo and Roubaix, I’m hoping the same today. Couple of bad luck in previous years. Want to see some peak uphill sprints again.
Super strong today on the perfect course for him completely obliterating everyone. Sucks about the crash potentially hampering next week but it’s good there was no affect here. If there was race radios he might have been caught but most likely drops them again. He’s going for the triple next year of MSR, RVV, and PR and can pull it off if he rides like this year or better. I don’t really fancy his chances in PBL unless Pog and Evenepoel don’t take part. Hell of a year for MVDP.
This is nonsense, it's in MVDP's nature to want to attack in every race and in every stage. It's only this year that he's way more focused on his season goals, and to great success. As a triple discipline rider it makes even more sense to do so.Perfect course + peak shape = total domination. Best Mathieu I have ever seen in a bike race, and he has done lots of crazy stuff during the years.
I for one wish he was more visible throughout the the season apart from only the biggest of targets, but it is what it is. Reason I say that is because I watched with a friend who admittedly isn't super hardcore, but still knows his cycling - said he felt a bit 'meh' because he won't show the jersey off a bit more during a season. It resonates a bit with me, but I definitely don't feel meh after a champion like him just dominated the best riders in the world like this.
ToF 🤢Leads us to a discussion we had in the past. What is his range. Already won MSR, ToF and PR. Liege is already a longshot. He finished 6th in 2019 and won an easier edition of Amstel. Feels like he is a little bit heavier and even more explosive these days. Not sure if he could repeat that right now. Lombardia seems out of reach unless they go back to one of the late 00s, early 10s routes.
