Never will... what on earth do you have against the guy? Just that he's miles better than Wout van Aert?
I just don't like the guy. Why on earth does that bother you so much? He's been miles better than Wout...I'm not Wout, and whether Wout wins or not doesn't really affect my life in any way. Me not liking Mathieu appears to affect your life much more that Wout affects mine.

is that why you keep criminally underrating him even when everyone else is literally telling you he could do this?
Probably so, plus I genuinely thought Pog could attack on the Cipressa and make the difference. I was wrong. I don't want him to win, so I look for things that give me hope he won't. He still won, and it really isn't affecting my day.

I could have just slinked away, and stayed off the forum until Pog won...but this is all kind of fun for me, but not really something that drives my life. It's a distraction from lots of things in my life that are stressful, not the least of which is waking up in my country every morning. Now I will go ride my bike and distract myself with something healthy. I hope the rest of your day is great for you.

I'm so grateful to Mathieu, Flanders 22 and now this: the only guy who can bring balance in the Pog era. When Pog started attacking at the start of the Poggio I was sure this was over but this man it's incredible. Hope to see another round in a couple of weeks!

These Mathieu detractors are hilarious. There's obviously no objective reason for not liking Mathieu when the only reason they can muster up is "I just don't like the guy". How can anyone take these guys seriously.

Mathieu is an exemplary champion that youngins can look up to and model after. Gracious in victory and in defeat. A true racer that makes any race instantly more attractive when he's on the startlist. Always willing to go on the attack and break things up when least expected. When he does force a break he never shies away from doing his part, often times doing way more than he should just because he's that committed and that strong. He's an exciting, unorthodox, balls-to-the-wall racer, which means that when he wins, he wins deservedly so.

No reason to dislike him as a racer, no reason to hate him as a person. So surely, these people are Belgian. There's no other explanation for this blind dislike. Pathetic really.

But...two years ago Matthieu dropped Pog at the top of the Poggio and then Pogi went on to dominate him at RVV.
that is a good point. OTOH look how durable he is now when Pogacar went all out again and again trying to nuke him uphill and he still had room to spare to do his own attack at the top of Poggio. I think he figured out more how to race against Pogacar and will apply that to Oude Kwaremont.
