I merged the 'unofficial' ACF10000 thread into this one as they are essentially the same thing.

Damn! The unofficial thread was meant to arrouse even more interest in this remarkable event.

It was also the cool and totally unauthorized counterpart...

a topic about a forum poster started by the same poster is not worthy of "professional cycling"

Just to be clear - ACF didn't start the thread himself - that would have been a bit self absorbed.

The "10k" posts were basically just cut out from the Cadel thread to give it its own life...

ok

new rule proposal

limit the number of personal pronouns per post. that will slow him down

First of all, I'd like to say thanks to most of the people on this forum who make this an enjoyable outlet for myself sometimes to talk about cycling. It is a pleasure. I thought I would make my 10,000th post in this thread because, it is about my favourite rider. I will try to make it not completely boring but I am boring person generally, so I will try my best not to be.

Archibald, you should be honoured that my 10,000th post is quoting you;). I like to see some emotion, it shows how much it means to the rider and shows they are human. It is real and raw and after someone who has been riding for 6 hours and takes a victory, they are at their most vulnerable state. This is real emotion and not some charade.

I think even if he does race hard early in the season, it shouldn't affect his preparation going into the tour. I hope he races Liege, he has a great chance at winning that race and he has already won Romandie, so will another title mean much? I am not sure that he will be right up their with some of the other favourites in Catalunya as he has said that he hasn't done much training at all for the lengthy climbs.

I hope he doesn't turn up at the dauphine in too stronger condition. I hope he doesn't turn up to the tour at 100%, just under 100% would be perfect. Prepare strongly, make sure the team has lots of ttt practise and work hard. Most of all if Cadel has fun on the bike then he can do the job in July. He has the ability. He is going to have to time trial better but I think there is plenty of improvement from now and then. If he doesn't do the job, then so be it. I think we all know that he doesn't lose without a fight. He lays it on the line putting in 100% (not going to be a moron and say 110%).

Even if you don't win le tour, myself and your other fans will be proud of you. You are the best Australian cyclist ever and it will take a lot to overthrow you from that title. You have brought this sport into the mainstream market from being a very small unknown sport.

Chapeau Cadel!

That's my 10,000th post. Now I am on the hunt to find a new hobby as I have became a die hard cycling fan with no life other than posting on an internet forum. I have too much spare time. Any suggestions?:D

Well done Aus its good to see 10,000 posts and no warnings.....As a member of Team Cadel its good to see him coming into some good form.Keep up the great postings mate.

Question: Do you even own a bike?
I certainly do. I ride a mountain bike though I am too big for it and with all my other expenses I need to get some more money so I can buy one. I do a fair bit of running.

But acf, what happens when he retires!?

Trust me, he won't be retiring if I have anything to say about it.;)

Nah, I will be on the hunt for another rider to creepily follow like I do to cadel.

Thanks to all the well wishes. Much appreciated.

I too look forwrad to Cuddles winning the big one this year.

What is the significance of 94 in your handle?

You should post a photo of yourself and your bike.

This is ACf's thread. Must you embarrass me?

My post count for June - September was about 100 a day.

For example the world cup thread on which i participated on for less than a month, according to the user cp i have 400 posts on that alone. Thats not even counting every Tour and vuelta stage and the discussions around them.

Since then its been far closer to normality, Im just paying the price for those 4 months.

I could get a 6 month ban and come back still on top.

I support this idea.

Likewise, thanks to you for your contributuion at making this an enjoyable forum, and for the music tips.

Cadel the best Aussie cyclist ever is saying a lot, with the likes of Phil Anderson, Stuey O'Grady, Robbie McEwen. Those are no slouches, and so that is deserved high praise for Cadel. Especially after he wins Le Tour this year ;).

Spare time? How much is a lot? You want a real time sink, try model ship building. Not the modern vessels. I'm talking about the sailing vessels of the 1700's (e.g. Lord Nelson's flagship HMS Victory). That will suck up all your spare time and then some.

Ooh, I thought about starting on that... After reading a lot of Paddy O'Brian your fingers start to itch.

I believe it is the year in which he was born, which explains everything if you think about it.;)

Well let me tell you about a guy named ACF94. If each post can be thought of as a bit of information about yourself, we know more about this guy than anyone else on the board. When these forums started out, I was (and still am) an avid reader but moderate participant. But I saw alot of this little Cadel fan. His completely blind fanboyism and abrasive opposition to anyone making fun of his favorite rider were things that I found a little bit annoying, and unfortunately my first impression of him was negative.

But over the 2 years these boards have been around, we've actually seen our little ACF grow, in fits and starts granted, but there are very few occasions in my life where I've seen a poster visibly mature in relationship to the board they post on. ACF has achieved this. I still remember, like it was yesterday, when Blackcat correctly surmised that Evans would go to BMC, and it inspired the hissy fit to end all hissy fits, where ACF insisted that must be wrong and Cadel would never go to such a useless team. Of course, he was wrong. That marked a watershed moment in my impression of ACF. After that, it seemed to me he took a long look (conscious or not) with his relationship with the board, and decided that it would be much better to be laughing with people than having them laugh at him.

This has been a transition to the ACF we know now, who is quick to make fun of his own (well-known) preferences in rider, team, etc; who has turned his 'war' with the dutch mafia into more of a friendly battle; who has been as quick to admit error as he is to claim that he breaks nationwide news stories. I, for one, never thought I'd see him admit in the clinic that although he hopes and thinks Cadel is clean, he must remain open minded to the possibility that he isn't. All the while, he has maintained his earnestness, beautifully captured in his 10,000th post here, that I find to be his most endearing quality. Sure, he can sometimes be quick to respond testily to someone making a negative comment about him or things he likes, but so can we all sometimes, I'm sure you just see more of it when someone posts 10 thousand times. But you know where you stand with ACF, he leaves it all on the table (or the board, so to speak).

And so, to ACF, I toast you on your numerical achievement, and hope that you continue to grow through this forum, and continue to contribute your seemingly endless enthusiasm to the discussions here.

Congrats.

To paraphrase one of our new mod overlords, reciting in verbatim quotes from Goodfellas ought to do the trick.

great post. I would love to see that blackcat exchange regarding BMC.

Taking into account blackcats recent posts it seems him and ACF have switched rolls.

To this day I'm sure blackcat had inside info on the Evans-BMC transfer. At least he was correct on that one, unlike The Hog and Contador will join Garmin by September 5 2009...
