... but others lack the requisite sense of humour - those not from good solid convict stock:)

Congrats to GB on a good performance, Cav & the boys did everything right this time - or at least made one fewer mistakes than all the other teams:)

Lol dude thats pretty harsh and over the limit, you are going to get some verbal bashing from some angry Aussies.

I am an Aussie, from good, solid convict stock, and I can deal with it:)

Those who take offence to my comments are pretty thin-skinned, would not go too far in the Australia I grew up in......

Wonder if we should have an official gb gloating thread?

Bet the aussies wouldnt take it nearly such good humour as we took this one.

trying to prove a point dave because you are being attacked about your comment? I have no problem with cav winning. he was the best in the final 100m. I am just sick of brits amongst others being super defensive about people being annoyed Cav won. I don't particulary like him. People are more annoyed that he won because the course was unworthy of a World Championships course and any die hard fan could see that the Road race yesterday was not a good race.

Call me a convict all you want.:D

How often do you need to roll out this same argument, ACF? I think we know by now your feelings on the matter. For those of us here who do not have any axes to grind in this particular affair, the repetition is starting to get rather shrill. Now that's criminal! :)

Sorry, but I was just a little annoyed about some people. I am over this now anyway.

The Australians have taken it quite well, some bitter Euro fans have got the hump that Cav won though which is quite funny.

Australia have some fantastic riders, particularly the youngsters - Durbridge is something else and Hepburn a stylish rider.

Like I said before, the English/British are the only ones that think they don't belong to Europe.

The Aussies were there for the sprint too - Goss would have been sledged just as badly as Cav if he'd won.

Pity he wasn't fast enough and Matt White did a brainfart with the team selection :D

I joked on Monday that the Aussies were peaking too soon and.............

Clearly you haven't specifically targeted Cav for your hate, but an entire nation.
At least, in this respect, you are being consistent.

No, I find it funny that people seem to think it's a British vs European thing. Seeing as Great Britain IS European. How is stating that hating a nation?

In reality it's a Cavendish is a boring cyclist thing.

Very good, well done he said in a condescending tone

Meanwhile, Evans went on to secure his win with second place in the stage 20 Grenoble time trial. According to Brad McGee, Contador's Australian sports director on the Saxo Bank team, it was how Evans, 34, won that most impressed the Spaniard.

''He is very complimentary … with the way Cadel did it, too,'' McGee said. ''When he grabbed the handlebars [on stage 18] and said, 'Let's go. Come with me or do what you want, I'm going,' which is what we've seen from Alberto in the past. He really empathised with what was going through Cadel's mind to win that thing.''
