I think my strongest stance in this is that the mountain stages in Switserland are like 3 days away.

The only reservation with that is that I can imagine that Bernal will have the higher base level so he'll be relatively better in Switserland than Thomas will be in relation to their respective Tour forms.

Welp Thomas Tour in doubt.

I bet Bernal at +3300 odds to win the Tour a month ago. He's now down to +500.
I assume you meant odds 33 a month ago and odds 5 now. Good bet, though. Odds 33 was still way above the market a month ago.

Yes very good odds, when news came through of Froome being involved in a crash and likely was going to miss the Tour I got 20/1 on Bernal each-way before the UK bookies took the markets down.

Bernal would have been a very short priced favourite had Thomas’ injuries also ruled him out.

That's a good bet. Though I hope you'll miss out on the prize as I have Fuglsang @ 251 :D

Excited to see him unleashed. Hate Sky but love Bernal so rooting for the guy to say up yours to the coke can bots and smash this GT
Today is the day, its a perfect climb for Bernal. The climb comes after a short and very easy day. Lets see what all those Strava records are about now!

I've not checked out the stage yet, but I would think he would not want to be a peak force right now--assuming folks were looking for a more dominant performance. There's also the matter of tomorrow's much longer stage, with higher altitude climbs as well.

The TdF is shaping up to be a real opportunity for him to get his first GT victory.

no it isn't

You're responding to a message of over 2 days ago. Surely there was some doubt right after he dropped out of TDS.
That classic rick james

Im on board with you, I expected a little better. His attack looked amazing, but he stagnated a bit on the last km. Probabably went a bit too deep with that attack. Lets see what he has in store today!

On a completely unrelated note, I also love how he climb. The big gear he is pushing and the way he is looking while doing so is pretty pleasing for me to look at. Dont really know why, its the same feeling I have when watching Contador, Klöden or Andy Schleck.

I disagree completely with this. He looks way more laboured than those guys. Don't really think he has that great of a style on the bike, actually.
