no im saying sticky this, but rather than merging all the other lance threads in here, just closing them and letting them fall off the page gradually

i think 8 lance threads on the front page alone negates that prediction already..

Agreed. Kill the others. And by others, I mean threads.

To make everybody feel a little better; I've just had it confirmed Lance Armstrong was paid 3millionAUD for his appearance at the 2010 Tour Down Under. Plus expenses – himself and family. Don't it make you feel good? And yes I have a link.

Sure Hog, I'll be interested in further reading for principle's sake. This post I had written last weak could use some additional sources for the numbers. http://cozybeehive.blogspot.com/2010/01/tour-down-under-or-tour-down-armstrong.html

Here's some logs for the fire:

http://blogs.crikey.com.au/northern/2010/01/19/lance-armstrong-yes-men-and-the-brave-new-world-of-australian-cycling/

And this one (though it really is the last comment from Millar that makes it relevant to this thread):

http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/cycling/columns/story?columnist=ford_bonnie_d&id=4836653

Q: You mentioned Lance in your front-of-the-Tour scenario, so that tells me you think he's going to be a factor again.

A: The fact that he got third [in 2009] is mind-boggling. I didn't even think he'd make it to the start of the Tour de France. I no longer hedge bets on Lance. Top five. He'll be there. He is a phenomenal bike racer. It's inescapable. And he loves it so much. It is life and death to him when he's on the bike. It's very hard to compete with someone like that. The reason that Schleck and Contador beat him is that they're phenomenal talents. Alberto is better than Lance ever was, and Lance knows it. Lance knows that if he raced against Contador at his peak, [Contador] would beat him.

I didn't say it was the SA government's best return on investment, just if they get a return on investment, good on them. There is a difference, in the world looking at a product (the state of sa for 5 days) and the cycling world looking at the brand name on a jersey. 3 mill does not buy a protour team (good start though), though australia is begging for one.

It would have been nice to get some live/worldwide tv coverage as part of the bargain.

Can't even get it here.
Live that is, 30 minute highlight package

its a bit crap only having two live stages..

althought the radio commentary looks promising.. at least its not all about lance..

sticky please, and direct all lance chatter to the same place.
You know, if there were a whole bunch of separate threads with few posts and few views, I would agree.

But, like it or not, that's the most popular topic, and it make sense to break up discussions about him instead of having just on thread.

I really only talk about him when he's spewing lies or acting psycho. I started the Brushes Off Taunt feed because it showed just how far he's reaching to create a rivalry, and if that was how he brushes things aside, the guy is too far out there. I was the second one to an underground train station one morning, and there was a guy there looking up at the ceiling hollering about medication and stuff. I avoid all things Armstrong unless he's telling lies about Alberto, or accusing Pierre Bordry of trying to kill pro cycling through him. It's getting to the point where they should let Britney Spear's dad make all his decisions for a year. The guy can't make it through an interview any more without contradicting himself, and he thinks that people should believe both sides.

Please set up a Contador feed for people who don't care to be spammed about the greatness of Radio Shack.

Edit: And a lot of the threads are to complain about various aspects of his treatment in the press. If the questionable ones go away, there will be way fewer threads.

:eek:MERGE! It could be argued that much of this isn't about professional road racing. If it's going to be like this, Lance chat could have it's own subforum, so I could avoid it more easily.

I think both may be a good idea, but want to hear what others say before just implementing it.

I seem to recall all LA threads being merged into a single stickied discussion last summer. It seems inevitable.

I don't mind topics about LA that offer content, but one about him in a breakaway is begging to be merged.

I count seven lance threads on the front page alone..

What a coincidence!

I say sticky a Lance thread in each Road forum: Road Racing, General, and the Clinic. That would allow us to discuss his performance at races, off the bike endeavors, and PED accusations, respectively.

Just say yes!!! (to Merge and sticky)

God, (or CN moderator) I am sick to death of Lance and inevitably the LA and Contador soap opera.

It's so bad that I will be hoping that anyone win the tour other then those two:p

Please sticky this!!!

Tim Lane from ABC's Winners program? I thought she'd had to sleep with someone to get that job but not her dad.... eeeeeekkkk.

Thanks for the detail.

Clueless indeed. Her usual gig is a Aussie Rules Football presenter and a poor one at that. Nepotism anyone??

Yes, "Sticky" it up LA's ****.
Yes put them all up there.:D

One of the other mods stuck this. I'm going to try to look at some of the other LA threads and close or merge them, as so far this thread seems to be accomplishing what DIM intended, and I think it's a good idea.

The idea of a LA sub-forum has been discussed in the past.

Sorry I thought Greg was a million dollar a year rider. the first. Where do you get your information and do you know Greg personally?

Also why does Armstrongs' name come up on the now locked price of legend?

To me Armstrong is a gifted athlete and superior tactician however he is not the greatest cyclist racing at this time and he is not the greatest cyclist of all time.

Lance is simply a smart, psyco bike rider who has chosen to focus his winning on Le Tour. Basiclly he is the smartest cyclist around and if that rates him as LEGEND well I guess he is LEGEND.

I know Bob got Greg that 1 Million dollar contract. Before Greg top cyclists made dough riding post tour Crits.

But if that were the case, there should have been more coverage on Leipheimer. He won the TOC, finished ahead of Lance in the Giro, and was ahead of Lance in the Tour when he dropped. He was covered a little, but way less than Lance

Runt Levi taint gonna win no grand tours.

He is a rocket-blur on the roads of Sonoma County though.
If he could only say something interesting Levi'd a be in the news big time in the US. Same for smiling George Hincapie. Boring with a capital B.
