i thought that only applied to the tour
Nope, all 3 Grand Tours negotiated the agreement. RCS, Unipublic and ASO are all part of the agreement... ASO led the discussions as the most powerful of the 3.

Libertine S. explained in other thread why Andalucia was invited.
Cervelo has their sprinters and Sastre (maybe) wills start the race.
Garmin has Farrar, Hesjedal (stage winners last year), Tommy D.
Sky...Don't know why they were invited. Though maybe Lovkvist can try and go for overall.
Katusha has Rodriguez who has reasonable chances of winning or at least making the podium.
Xacobeo has Mosquera. More than enough.
So, there is some logic in the RS non-invitation.

Sorry mate not getting it. I understand why there not part of the automatic selections but as a ProTour team and not being invited as one of the next 6 has to suck. They don’t want them there.

A bigger worry is for the Hog. He would be placating Jani and others that not riding the Tour they could lead at the Vuelta. What race will he use now as a bargaining chip?

Popo must be p1ssed. He missed the Giro has to wear a dress for the Tour and can’t ride the Vuelta.

He can send them to the fifth grand tour, the Tour of Utah, or maybe a crit somewhere in Texas.

Does LA still do that Ride for the Roses? They could go there. Johan could promise team leadership to lots of guys there.

Remember when Macho Man was told to train for the Giro, and then the Giro invite fell through? And then RS tried to act like they had never wanted to ride the Giro anyway. So which was it? You told them in January you didn't want to ride the Giro, but you forgot all about it and had Macho Man training hard to show his stuff at the Giro. Great organization they have over at TRS.

Does Popo get mad?? Or is he just happy to be a pro bike racer these days? He sure doesn't ride "With Anger"! I think he's just another Domestique these days. And if RS had been going to La Vuelta, he should have been a Domestique for Janez. Because we all know that Levi only went to La Vuelta when he had something to prove, Old man will be flirting with retirement AGAIN. and Kloden ?..... Has anybody seen Kloden this year? Horner might have been colorful, but he can't get no respect. So, in the end, I think the Spaniards are expressing themselves. Comprende?

Euroslob Popobitych is +14 minutes back in the Tour de Suisse, one place behind McEwen--he isn't exactly riding like a GT overall kind of guy, and hasn't for a few years now. He doesn't even seem to be all that great a domestique.

Amen!
Last time I saw him give anything worthwhile was the time he launched LA in the TdF, for a Mountain top win, which Valverde stole in the last moments. And that was before LA "retired".

Considering the 'star-maker' reputation Bruyneel has for getting top results and major wins, there ain't half a lot of great talents who have gone to his teams to die.

The invisible man. Although we did see him for a 50m attack on the bottom of the Muur de Huy at Fleche. Cant have had more than 10 race days this year. That must be a lot of blood he's got stored somewhere.

Team RS is OLD!!

The possible average age of TRS TdF crew is 33.

TRS needs to find some plan that isn't a decade old now with riders on their last season.

Sorry but I love how Armstrong deals with people. It was a stupid question.

Considering the circumstance at the time and now, no, no it was not a stupid question

So SOCAL? How would you answer t he question if you were Lance?

If I were LA I would have said;

"Dude, I'm glad you asked me that. It's time I come clean because, like Floyd, I can no longer look myself in the mirror. While, in my mind, I've done nothing different than most top tier riders I compete with, I have to say that I have doped my entire career. FFS, there's no way to compete without a little help. I mean, I have kids and what kind of example am I setting?

Man it feels good to get that off my chest."

But that's just me.

The scandal has not just broken. If the journalist wanted to be relevant then he at least should have asked a more detailed question.

And he was trying to bamboozle Armstrong by springing this on him as he leaves the bus. You don't f**k with Armstrong like that.

However, I do agree that it's unfortunate that the Landis allegations have soured the mood, but that's not Armstrong's fault. Like the fans, he didn't want to be talking about doping this year.

True.

Most liars and cheats don't like to talk about their lying and cheating.

I hear ya SOCAL. Ain't gonna happen though. I am pretty sure Greg wished Lance would say that too. All the bantering around and bullying I have done, I have come to realize the only person in this cycling business I can believe is Greg LeMond. Really the only one of all of them.

The people in cycling and all sports( commentators, athletes, team owners)really believe that doping is a necessary evil.

The only hope we as fans have is to believe our guy is clean.

This was during the Tour de Luxembourg, the first time that LA was in Europe and the first change the, I believe, German press had the possibility to speak about this with him. And the press does not need to think about what the riders want to talk about, especially if it is something the riders never want to talk about. The press is there precisely to ask those questions the people do not want to answer
