How many more GT's winners does Bruyneel have over Martinelli where we can ask if they were clean.

actually if I am not mistaken Martinelli has won more GTs with different riders than Johan who has only been DS at the Tour with LA/Conta, where as Martinelli has, correct me if I am wrong, won 5 GTs with 4 riders? or 4 GTs with 3? Still more riders than The Hog

Contador may have planned his own DOPING program, but the only RACE program difference between this year and last will be the absence of Johan's stategical and tactical genius. Oh, and the temporary "team" Alberto will FingerBangBang and DUMP come end of July....how nice.

How many races did Johan's strategical and tactical genius come into play in 2009? I only recall him being in the car at the 2009 Tour de France (and we know his tactical and strategical genius was more hinderance than help vis-a-vis Contador).

He also gave the pre-stage team tactical talks at the Giro. The ones that eurosport showed were hilariously detached from what actually happened in the race.

My favourite was stage 10: "It's going to be a calm stage and not much is going to happen. If we can put someone in the break so we can avoid having to help the sprinters' teams, then perfect". A 270km mountain stage ensued...

Substitute climber for sprinter and this is the message delivered by any DS to any team for nearly any race. Not much genius involved here and if this was remotely subject to public knowledge; probably was not what the team would have been told out of public view.
But I did like the DS show...let's the fans know how it really works. Really.

1. Is he dodging Contador?
2. If so, why?
3. How does this make you feel?

1. In principle yes.

2. I wonder. What's the difference from last year besides being on opposite teams?
Contador reached out his hand to Armstrong, and said it would be good for team spirit if they raced together before the tour. Armstrong accepted.
Did they in fact get along very well back then or was it just pretending?

3. Well this is preparation so I guess I don't make a big deal out of it. I think Armstrong is aiming to be competitive in ToC, that's his first real goal of the season. of course the tour will be his biggest goal.
Everything between is just preparation, LBL might be the exception.

Nice to see the TTT returning to the TdF in 2011. Hmmm..

Noooooo Lance! FFS, don't do it.

Maybe, that "Hmmmm" means, with his "flexible" programme", he's now thinking of dodging Contador, until 2011?
China's Qinghai Lake would be an excellent location to promote his self....sorry cancer awareness.

Be fair, LA would never promote his self awareness.

Because he clearly doesn't have any self-awareness to promote.

Contador has dignity that Armstrong does not possess

In studying the psychologies of these two cyclists it is evident that Contador does not feel the need to enter into a public mutual conflict with his American counterpart. He acts with a maturity and dignity that Armstrong has never had. Alberto speaks to us with his cycling while Lance has to convince himself and everyone else first that he is always right. He also reminds me of Tyson the boxer in the sense that he attempts to bully his opponents in various ways in order to instill fear. He is still trying to do this to Contador who has shown admirably to the cycling world that the American is not his inspiration for what he does but he finds it from another great Spanish cyclist & from his faith. This sense of self-assurance possessed by Contador & his tremendous ability about which he is refreshingly modest is a source of immense annoyance to the archetypal American bighead.

Thus, Mr Armstrong who knows his days are numbered as a cyclist, despite being still a good one, can only mock and taunt a man who is a rank above him in cycling ability and who does not reply to this form of nonsense. Armstrong still has much to prove to everybody and to himself. He babbles & rants because he is unsure. In the meantime, Alberto goes quietly about the business of cycling.

Is it me or isn't it a bit presumptuous on the part of Bruyneel to release his short list for a race to which Radio Shack has not been invited? I doubt that they won't receive an invitation, but coupled with their pending decision to skip the Giro d'Italia, I think it seems a particular brazen move. IMO.

I have seen how fame and celebrity can alter decent people into unrecognizable monsters. Hopefully, Spain affords him a level of humility that more media savvy locations provide an environment where such a transformation is more likely.

I hope his maturity and self control OFF the bike can help him make good choices ON the bike, such as not bonking and blowin a race or missing a move on the road.

I don't think Lance should skip this tdf. He DOES help spread the profile of cycling, both pro racing and getting Americans fat behinds off the couch and exercising. (My own fat behind included.) It's fun to hate on Lance, but let's not blind ourselves to what benefits he may provide. Besides, I can't wait 18 months to see him get slaughtered at the tdf.

What credentials do you have, and on what studies are you basing these assertions? Could I find them in any published scholarly journals? Studying one's psyche could take years; you seemed to be confident that you pegged them just by reading journalistic opinions and watching them on TV.

Not just you. I thought the same thing, but hey I've learned to expect stuff like this though...no biggie.
