I found 2 on the interwebs about the events of today:

They(Radio Shack team and DS) were having trouble picking Contador out in the peloton, so Johan called Jose and said get Contador in yellow that way we can pick him out in the peloton on stage 4. Massive well done to the lads today we got the most guys in the top 10 and now hold the most important classement in the race the TEAM classement, everyone knows since 2009 winning the team classement in any race is more important than the individual classement, after all the race leader only gets one "yellow" jersey but the team leading the classement ranking gets at least 8 "yellow" dossards.

Nothing to report from the race in Portugal today, but Lance won the 2010 TdF on ProCycling Manager, Contador didn't even have the nerve to start the race

Ha! Thanks for that. We know what Lance and Johann thought about the team classification and 'number of riders in the top ten' during their Tour reign. Any chance Lance would have traded in a maillot jaune to have a few of his domestiques sitting in the top ten? I'd bet his left one he wouldn't, then or now.

To be fair here, in 02 and 04 Lance had a teammate in the top ten.

To be fair that teammate was 17 and 14 plus minutes down in each of those years.

I just think it is odd to suggest that a team that is contesting the overall is concerned about how highly placed they are on overall team classification. I think it's nice if it happens, but it's definitely not on the chalk board before the game.

From what I've seen they've painted as Radio Shack was hotly contesting the stage and nipping at AC's heels, which if you've seen the video isn't remotely close to the truth.

De la Fuente and AC get clear of the group early on the slopes and get a small advantage. Machado waits a bit and sees that no one is going and leaps from the pack. He eventually bridges up to AC and De la Fuente (about 1.5km from the finish), but just as he gets to De la Fuente's wheel two things happen: De la Fuente shuts it down (pedals off to his right and starts soft pedaling) and AC leaves Machado like Machado is standing still. The only time I saw Levi was when he crossed the finish line. He was never really involved in the action.

Thanks for that link. I think that answers CC's question about what happened to de la Fuente. His job was done the second Contador came around him.

I didn't even bother to think that anyone from the shack could follow AC's wheel on this climb. Even LA on his 38 is a lot more explosive than Klöden and LL, which means that they practically aren't explosive at all .

I liked how Alberto, when asked about how "easy" he looked when going solo by the TV reporter, immediately said it was all thanks to the team.

He looked and sounded like he was extremely happy/pleased at how the team had worked the stage.

Yep. Very impressive work from DDLF and Contador, well, put a sizeable gap on RS in very short order.

He'll be depending on Vino and Pereiro in the high mountains so maybe it doesn't mean much that this short lead out killed de la Fuente.
