Nope, my opinion remains the same, but you keep asking for the definitive, which I can't give.

What I do know, be it governments, administrative bodies, doping agencies etc etc, timing of ones announcements, is carefully considered.

I assume you disagree, but you haven't actually stated an opinion on the subject, so I may be wrong.

Well obviously I don't think that's how legal authorities work. If they have the evidence it will speak for itself. Delaying a case just to cause embarrassment would destroy their own case if it came out. The defense would claim it was a witch hunt.

You are correct Susan, but I think Prodigy needs to know something that should be said in the open - Over the last several months this forum was infested by a repeat troll who came on here and constantly antagonized members, including moderators and administrators. He kept re-registering with new names (BPC, RexHunter, MaxPower, Great White, etc.) and every single time got banned. His posting style started out short and cryptic, then needling and annoying, when people questioned him, he took on a persecution complex. So people see you start this way and speculate. It also doesn't help that you are posting from the same IP block and location that he did.

I think the reason Armstrong unretired is that he saw Cipo come back at the ToC, give it the old colledge try, and still get fawned over by legions of fans. He wanted to have his ego stroked and be the center of attention. Once back, he began to believe his own BS. After getting crushed by Contador in the Tour's prologue, he set his sights on obtaining yellow for a stage or two just for the attention it would give him. This was the reason he and Bruyneel were so mad at Contador for attacking on the Andorre Arcalis stage and stealing the jersey for good.

Right now the only thing he is interested in is attending races for the fan adulation or races that will pay him a large start fee. The fan idolization is why he showed up at Gila and Nevada City.

I still think he will try using more than one bag at the Tour this year.

I more or less glossed over the ego thing in my post. But yes, dittos. He likes the adulation like I like ogling pretty women: there is no such thing as enough.

Sorry, I did not know about this. On the forums I have been on you don't usually think "I must check the archives to see if there has been a problem with troll". But now that you've mentioned it, I shall go back to check to see the months of threads where this "Great White/Max Power etc" person repeatedly trolled the site.

His posting style started out short and cryptic, then needling and annoying, when people questioned him, he took on a persecution complex.

Did they suddenly announce he was a troll when he was not trolling, like in this thread? I can see why someone would object to that to be honest. As Susan points out, it just spoils the threads. If you have something to say on the issue, say it. Don't throw out the word troll to close down the debate simply because you disagree with them. I hate forums that do that. It just ruins everything - you get more threads about trolls than you do about the issue of the site.

It also doesn't help that you are posting from the same IP block and location that he did.

That can happen.

I think Armstrong came back for a mixture of reasons.

The main reason was the genuine belief he could still win. But sticking the middle finger up to his critics, getting lots of new money and buzz, and raising hundreds of millions for his charity, would all have played a part.

As things stand today, there is a very credible chance LA could make the podium. It would be hard to retire knowing this.

The more interesting question is: why did he retire in 2005 in the first place? He easily had at least another couple more wins in the bag.

That seems to be the major troll marker: the forum is about him, the attitudes toward him, the "artful" discussion tactics like feigning innocent ignorance or "reasonability", petty characterizations, etc.

However, I like the wimmin too so I'd have to agree.

Are you saying the people who try to make the forum discussion about an individual poster instead of the topic are signs of a troll? If so, I agree with that. Susan is right to say cut it out.

I don't think they respect your authority, Susan. :(

OK I'm convinced. Publicus called it 3 pages back, guess I'm a little slooowww!

If you read on, Publicus assured me that he does not call people trolls simply for disagreeing with him. They actually have to do some trolling.

Looks like the old let's play innocent, ignorant, and reasonable for a while ploy.

We need a troll discussion forum. ;)

I agree. Some of you are much more interested in make-believe trolls than pro cycling matters. A subforum for people that are bored with cycling issues could solve this problem.

Edit. What is supposed to happen when I stop playing "innocent and reasonable"?

OK. But I am just gonna have to keep my wicked awesome comeback in my pocket for a little while. :D

I don't think organizers will not invite RS to the tour. they are too good for business.

Well, there you go. I have another BPC incarnation to ignore. He just needs to change his name from Prodigy to Worlds Biggest Loser, and we will have some truth in advertising. Glad I caught this incarnation early.

Susan, if you announced that going off topic is another form of trolling that requires a banning, that might stop them from disrespecting you.

Well I must admit I thought Publicus was just being an a@@@hole,but a few pages later, I think he's right on who it is. I don' think the guy is a troll, but he's definitely got a few issues, why would anyone keep coming back for more so many times

No he just said that there was a troll in our mist. I think that's what he says to any new comer that has a different view. He's promised he won't do that anymore.

The names provided above show that the user you are refering to hasn't said anything since 2009. Now, why would it be unusual for a cycling fan to want to talk about cycling every couple of months, especially when there has been so many tours over the past few weeks? Seems perfectly normal.

Dear Lord, it's been a long Monday and I have left my decoder ring at home. Can you please dumb it down for me. No idea what that means.

It's 'midst'. Please tell me it's a typo, even if that is a lie. 'Mist' is where the gorillas hang out in Africa

What strategy do you think RS should employ to get Lance onto the podium?

You understood it, didn't you? There's no need to troll.

Finally, something on topic.

The same strategy as last year. But like I said on the AC thread, it's mainly going to come down to LA himself - whether he can stay with the attacks on the climbs and improve his TTing. The pace making his team can provide will be more important for LA though.
