They'll say "Oh the team category is so last week. We're here for training miles."

Lars Petter Nordhaug said:Today, I met one of my dreams, I dropped Lance and Klöden in the mountains, "says Lars Petter Nordhaug to Syklingens World.
-We drove up to an 18 km long mountain named after Marco Pantani with three mil again. Wiggins felt "king" and saw that Lance was struggling a bit. Then he commanded Chris Froome and me in front. We went really hard up against the top and Lance and Klöden had to knock out behind us. I admit that it was a bit cool.

Polish said:Today may very well end up being Lar's most cherished day as a Pro
He will someday(s) tell his grandchildren the story of this day....repeatedly!
Of course Lance finished the day alongside Lars and will most likely beat him in the TT - but grandpa Lars will be forgiven for his forgetfulness there.
Publicus said:Just adding an objective view point on Lance's text message regarding suffering on the cat 1. All the other stuff is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned.
Polish said:I realize that....and the Lar's link was nice - thanks.
I wonder if Lance was on the rivet today, or if he held something back on the climb considering the TT tomorrow. He did manage to finish the day with Wiggins etc....

Publicus said:Well he did have an assist from gravity seeing as the course was downhill for 20+km after the ascent. But it's early still and he's still got more weight to lose and he hasn't really focused on climbing and . . . you get the idea. Nothing matters but July. And in July if things don't go well, we'll have a new set of explanations for why that is the case. SSDD.![]()
ImmaculateKadence said:Agreed.
You know what I've often wondered...what if Lance wins? What will the sides be saying then? I honestly don't really care who wins; I just want to see some good racing come July (hasn't really been the case for the past few years), but how will Lance act if he wins, and how will AC explain that failure? What if baby Schleck beats em both, then what? In a strange way, the explanations are just as entertaining as the actual racing![]()

Publicus said:It will depend on HOW he wins. If it's because AC falters or he just dominates, there won't be much to be said other than he was the better man. Respect due. If he wins because AC or Andy crashes out, then there will be a bit of an asterisk as to what would have happened, etc. If he's going to win, I want it to be under the first scenario.
If Baby Scheck wins, it would depend on the same question: the circumstances.

zapata said:Nordhaug also won the stage in Ireland where Armstrong abandoned. But, to be fair, he had already been paid, so why should he be bothered to finish the race?
Epoché said:There was a typhoon in progress.
i dont agree with this analysis particularly because it's early march. it also does not agree with armstrongs own record in the giro last year. he attacked and was dumped repeatedly by the better riders. his fans explained - it was a training race. bs.Epoché said:No, any win will do, thanks. Nobody will care if everyone else crashes out. It's like when Sastre won because Contador wasn't there. A win is a win is a win. That's all anyone will remember. At 38 he will take a win anyway he can.
Going back to this race. Maybe LA is focusing on the TT, or maybe he wants Wiggins to get a false sense of security generally.
The thing with LA is, if he is unsure of his form, he won't attack for fear of blowing up. It's much worse to be seen to try to beat someone and fail, than not try and leave the doubt there.

Epoché said:I think he only attacked twice in the whole tour. The first time he was called back to help Levi, the second time was on that stage in the last week which Pellizotti won.
Though the circumstances were still different. He was clearly not a contender in the race and was his first GT for four years. But in this current race his other rivals won't be in peak form either, so he will not want to give them a huge psychological boost this early in the season by attacking and blowing up.

And it was definitely not a typhoon in Ireland, I was there, it was heavy rain. He took his money and ran. Cavendish dropped put in 08 as well, at least he won a few stages and didn't cause the event to lose a few days.
altark123 said:Why is it that whenever Lance does ANYTHING there are 42 middle-aged people sitting on their computer and on this forum trying to make him seem like an idiot. Guess what, I am glad you release your blatant hatred for this man on this forum, but guess what? NO ONE who matters gives a rat's behind what you think of Lance, just like on one cares what I think. So keep rattling on about Pharmstrong and Geri-shack.....it really accomplishes something. Don't just label me a troll who is trying to hijack this board...I am a Lance fan but come here to read about all things cycling, I just had to get this off my chest. People act like teenagers on here sometimes.
