To me most of the cancer agencies I have seen are scams. I do not have time to look into Lances org. I am watching cycle racing... entertainment which is sponsored by Lances' sponsors.

Like I have said before, it is wonderful to be a Lenin-Trotskyite Bolshevik, socialist.

It works if you are brit canadian etc what have you.

We in the states are not quite as enlightened as you.

So get with program. In the US it is pay as you go. Love it or leave it.

Over here in Salinas [Monterey County.]we are paying for heli-vac evacuation of shot up gang bangers and their victims and innocent victims. Our tax dollars at work.

Oncology and cancer research or lance skimming are secondary.

Just a FYI, offbyone is just the latest incarnation of he who has many names.

He has to currently be using at least three or four different usernames.

A squirrel collects more than one acorn...

At least he's not really even pretending to be someone else. How come Volcano man has been allowed back on for so long? Once they ban you from the pub, aren't you out, regardless of your outfit?

Volcano man is offbyone as well as a few other identities.

I am a new user thank you very much. I am sorry that not hating lance and not believing in your twisted evil conspiracy theories isn't the popular opinion here.

the hatred is strong in this forum

if you bothered to even go look you can see where the money goes

Livestrong Programs-Partnerships

81% of all money goes to these programs (about $32m last year). 12% to fundraising and 7% to administration

you can guarentee an organisation this big will be accountable for the funds so stop all the lies about Lance lining his pockets with the donations. I have no doubt he receives some of the money, but nothing even remotely close to the 50% you all seem to think he's getting

btw the foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by cancer. not research

Wouldn't research really do the most to "improve the lives of those affected by cancer"? What if we were only one swimming pool away from finding a cure?

Do you know what it's like to 'live' with cancer? There are those for whom treatment is no longer useful, who no longer are cared for by the oncologist, and for whom the end of life specialists haven't been called in yet. So all they have is their GP who is unequipped to help, and an insurance company that doesn't want to spend money.. Livestrong were the first to address the issue of such a void. They were the first to talk about those cured of cancer who can no longer get mortgage loans, or loans to buy a car, who get turned down for jobs because they had once been affected by the disease, and who worst of all in the US couldn't get health insurance. Livestrong are no longer alone in dealing with these things, but they were amongst the first to make the problem a public one. On the other hand there are plenty of charities out there collecting money for research.

Wow you sure sound like one bitter and envious guy.

He has given hope to many people, undoubtedly many more than you. If you don't believe anyone has been granted hope, then explain who the thousands of people are who sign up for each and every livestrong event. Explain all the individual websites that go up by cancer survivors who prescribe to the livestrong charity. Livestrong has helped put cancer on the center stage worldwide. They aren't perfect, but to hate a group that is trying to do something good makes you look lilke the fool.

Who cares if the yellow band makes people feel a false sense of activism. They can feel whatever they want after they paid for it and the money goes to cancer research/charities. That yellow bracelot which you seem to despise has put millions of dollars into cancer research, but you are right that is a horrible thing.

Maybe you should put more time into volunteering and less time into whining about lance on this site
.

This is coming form some idiot who has all of 5 posts, all of them written to defend his man-crush Lance Armstrong.

Troll on, moron. Your credibility is absolutely ZERO. Millions for cancer research-what you don't know about the nonsense you defend says it all, doesn't it.

What is the difference between research and "advocacy"? Do you even know? No, you don't.

I know the economy is bad right now, but you could put your spare time to better use than this if you're currently unemployed. What would your family think about a grown man loving another man in this fashion? I would be ashamed.

I've been away for months - is this still BPC?

Yup. He is currently posting as Eyjafjallajokull, offbyone, probably Fred Thistle, and, I think, a couple of other user names. His current strategy seems to be to spread his trolling across several users so that any one user does not get annoying enough to get him banned. The effect is the same, though.

I wonder if this guy migrates from site to site spreading the same obfuscating gibberish like a traveling minstrel, or are we just the lucky ones to have him all to ourselves?

I call you on this one. Palliative care hospitals and services have existed for many, many years, certainly well before LA and LiveStrong. LiveStrong has now become the most prominent foundation offering advocacy services for people with cancers, but it is foolhardy to believe that LA and LiveStrong started this. Similar to believing the LA hype that was so successful because he trained harder than every other professional cyclist, because he was the first to cycle with a higher cadence, because he was the only one counting calories, etc, etc.

I see just as many donation requests on this site as livestrong. Oh yeah it looks like they are so different::rolleyes:
http://www.mariecurie.org.uk/events/

You need to realize that for any of these organizations to be successful they need money, that is the world we live in. But I believe all these organizations are good, some are better than others, but they should all be commended for trying to make a difference. It is asinine to paint Livestrong as evil.

You missed the point. Both need donations. But the way they spend the money is entirely different. One provides Nurses for the sick the other private jets. You do the math.

Apparently, that guy must have posted something pretty rough on the Contador competition thread. I am guessing it was directed at me personally because I posted something about our fat friend jackhammer/carboncrank the Cat 3 cycling tour guy. He left me a message on my User CP saying "See you never fat boy"...um okay. I am guessing all three are said troll. "Ignore" here they come.

I reported Mr. Volcano ages ago (the day he arrived), it seems they are no longer interested though.

The UK has universal health care with some choosing to jump the queue by topping up with private health insurance - we simply don't have the need that Livestrong apparently supplies. MC nurses provide end of life care for people who choose to die at home and fill in where NHS resources are overstretched and when carers can no longer cope. Cancer care may be excellent in the US but I'd rather have a serious illness in Europe where I knew I wouldn't fall through the net because of the greed of venal insurance companies.

I think that livestrong is an awareness organisation.

I believe it has an agenda to bring light on the cancer disease.

In that way I think it is doing a great job.

I think it is great political leaders get behind Lance and his organisation.

About the other things our forum bros about Lance. I am listening and learning.

Thanks everybody Fred Taylor

Fred Thistle seems to have the same writing style as Polish, with the short sentences broken up by blank lines.

Made it back to the local Tex Mex.... the gut is getting bigger.

How long before someone has a forum name Lancesgut?

LanceLeviGila5_410-110.jpg

He's clearly taken a liking to Allen Lim's rice cakes.

Lim's been exceedingly quiet on twitter recently... probably chained to the kitchen keeping the supply going.
