stop fooling yourself, its fckin 9km prologue LA is not burnt and stop making false excuses for contador,no GC contender would ever done the prologue "easy" ,he was just beaten by 5 seconds, its not big deal...how can some of you come up with **** like that?

Perhaps you should save some of your vitriol for later. AC didn't take any risks (i.e., took it easy in the corners (relative to Spartacus and Lance)). Noting that is not making an excuse, but making an observation.

Weird how that stirs folks so.

AC didnt take any risks...like you personally know him,you watched whole 10 minutes of his ride and after that you had conversation with him...no you didnt, you watched your TV,you have no idea about his gearing, you know pretty much nothing...only person who knows how hard was he riding is AC himself, unless you show me inteview with him saying he was goin easy and if was goin 100% he could have won its just speculation...there is no base for anyone saying LA was goin too hard and AC taking it easy

Hey champ, I made an observation based on what was shown on television. I then read what he said after the stage. That's it. If you want to tell yourself that reality was different, then you are more than welcome to do so.

And I would send you to the front page:

Alberto Contador (Team Astana) - sixth on stage, sixth overall @ 27 seconds: "I'm happy with the result. I'm ahead of virtually all the favourites and I missed the podium by a few seconds. It's true that I failed to find the rhythm that I would have liked, but I'm happy with the prologue. It was very difficult [to gain more time] because I couldn't risk more than is worthwhile. It's better to lose a few seconds to risk a fall."

Another quote from the Sports Illustrated write up:

"I wouldn't take more risks than necessary,'' Contador said. "It's better to lose a few seconds than to risk a fall.''

Read more: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...c.tour.de.france.notebook.0882/#ixzz0siGg0B6r

And the original comment in Spanish in case you want to translate it for yourself:

Del recorrido dijo que había sido “muy difícil porque no podía arriesgar más de lo que merece la pena. Es mejor perder unos segundos que arriesgar una caída”.

As for Lance, I've never said anything negative about Lance's performance yesterday. He rode a great prologue (said so in this thread after the prologue finished). I made that observation from watching it on television. Now should that one be discounted because I don't know Lance personally? Or what gearing he selected?

Weird how folks overreact to these things. Really, really, weird.

Can we implement an age limit in the forum during the Tour? Obviously this poster is still riding something of the 3 wheel variety with plastic wheels.;)

watch out or I'll report you for insults like that. Not that I would expect any better from hater. You dislike anyone who has had to battle against diversity in their life. Lance represents truth and honesty in cycling. Yeah, he went ball out yesterday, but he goes ball out in all aspects of his life.

Hope rides fast again

Fanboys will be fanboys! I was disgusted after the way Liggett and Sherwen over dramatised Lances beating of Contador. It was the worst, most biased commentary I have ever heard.

It's still better than that Road ID commercial where Levi ends up in Bob Roll's living room. That one skeeves me out. It gives off the impression that Bobke is some old perv who's trolled around on the internet to pick up young boys, and Levi is his unsuspecting prey.

Lance went down in that crash with the dog early in today's stage (Millar and Basso crashed too). Although he appears to be fine, expect a rider protest tomorrow about unsafe conditions at Le Tour. :p

Headline of L'equipe: "The boss is back".

Landis hasn't gotten good coverage in the french press today according to Eurosport.

Well if its a L'Equipe headline it must be true ;)

As for Landis not getting good coverage in France:
L'Equipe - Armstrong: «l'aigreur» de Landis.
LeMonde - Nouvelles révélations de Landis sur Armstrong avant le Tour.
Liberation -Du dopage chez l'US Postal? Armstrong dénonce des «affabulations»
Le Figaro - Dopage chez US Postal sous Armstrong.

They meant the coverage wasn't really favourable, not that there was no coverage. L'Equipe and others wasn't really gunning for Armstrong like you'd expect they might - they just went through the facts of the case.

Landis is more of a boogey man in France than Armstrong it would seem, probably because of the way he has handled his case. Remember there is an arrest warrant out for him there.

To be quite honest I wouldn't expect l'equip to do much stories about doping these days, especially against golden boys. This mainly due to the ASO

Not even the guy they so-much hate saying "I decided not to take any risks" is plenty for them to acknowledge that he eased off the pedals a bit.

Nonetheless, methinks even AC saying he was going at 90% would convince them of anything. I suspect their argument then would move into "well, I just don't trust him because of x, y and z".

My advise: Save your spit.

Eh, funny post in a way, but I hate to tell you that rich guys usually don't get rich if they are insecure.

Anyway, why the **** is it that LA always wears unique kit? This has probably been discussed but, what the hell? From the black/yellow livestrong helmet to the current gray helmet... is he not on the same team as his teammates? (Obviously he is not.)

I understand the national championship colors, or worlds colors, but damn man, are you on the the team or not?

Refreshing to see you post without being derogatory toward cancer survivors who have lost body parts to the disease. Too bad you chose to instead use a derogatory reference toward people with fetal alcohol syndrome. At least it's a start. . .

Lance is the team, he can do what he likes.
