you appear to be very angry about something. Why all the hate?Mont Ventoux said:Five months do not wash away his hatred for Alberto.
As long as someone stands in his way of #8, the same someone will be
hated with as evil a dark hate that this texan cowpoke can muster.
Poor Alberto, he only wants to win his third, can't that texan understand that 7 is a bigger number than 3???

There is a brief article on Contador and in it the writers make the point of saying Armstrong makes no attempt to hide his dislike of Contador. Followed by this quote from the Texan ..........
“He’s just a Spanish guy who has always lived in the same village, and he has his friends, his family, the street where he grew up, his country, his people ......... but he’s surrounded by yes-men”
Really??
This is the reason you choose to dis-like someone and try to bring the world's media down on them? Really?
What this says to me ( ignoring the sheer idiocy of his "yes-men" comment) is that Contador is a man comfortable with who he is and where he came from. A man surrounded by friends and family who he trusts and who will not lie to him or cheat him.
A man grounded and solid.
What it also says is that Armstrong is none of those things, and has none of those things. That without his constant need to appear in print he would simply blow away.
Armstrong appears to be unwilling to accept that he could be beaten by a simple man, rather than by a private jet jockey.
And, really? Contador is surrounded by yes-men? Lance, you need to look around you.
Pretty shallow reasons for the hate.

As I remember it the peleton is no place for softies![]()

How do I become one?
boianchimoon said:Exactly, it's a competition, being friendly/respectful has nothing to do with it, when the competition stops the respect usually comes back, but in world class competition respecting your opponent during the fight is a weakness. Let battle continue and we can enjoy not only the game but the psychology of the game, but when it's all over it will have been just another bike race.

khardung la said:Yeah this is old stuff. What still amazes me is that thing of "living in the same village" etc...It looks like Contador is from an obscure little village somewhere in the mountains living with bears and wolves....He is from Pinto, a city of 50.000 people at less than 20 Km from Madrid, a multicultural and thriving capital of about 3.5 million in the +6 million Madrid region, which accounts for almost the 25% of the economy of a country that is 8th in GDP in the World.
I mean, Armstrong is not only an ignorant, he is also an ignorant with bad intention.
BTW, if Contador would be from a obscure little village that would be very fine to me. And that would not change the fact that Contador can easily beat Armstrong's a$$$$ in any steep hill at any time.![]()
Libertine Seguros said:Do they? Did Big Mig abuse the competition the way Armstrong does? Is Contador doing it? Apart from the one interview at the end of last year's Tour, when he finally cracked and opened his mouth after three weeks of silence in the face of extreme provocation, when have we heard Contador taunting?
Sometimes, great sportsmen are great sportsmen and just get on with their job. Armstrong's method isn't a template, it's just illustrative of one way of doing it.

true a very a weak argument for disliking contador who seems a some what quite individual which i like. not a big talker like la and others less ego problems. if i was in contadors situation i would do the same surround myself with people who were there for me before the fame and $ came those are real friends not paid yes men which la is surrounded by. kinda ironic those statements coming from lance of all people-myra- said:I bought the Cycling Weekly guide to the Tour so that I would have route maps and what not for looking at.

WonderLance said:Lets get this thread back on the main page, it makes me sad when all this Lance isnt there for people to see.
Did everyone see Lance on the TV yesterday? It was great and he looked like it was really easy for him. I wa expecting him just to unleash some awesome chuck norris style power, but then Asterix or whatever his name is slowed the bunch before Lance could drop everyone.
Anyway, its good cos it will be more of a excitement when he dominates on the pavel tonight. the only problem that I have is that phil and Paul do not talk about Lance enough and they explain cycling in a very complicated way so its hard for me to understand. I know that they are professionals and htey know lots about cycling but they should dumb it down a bit so the fans can understand.
Cant wait for tonight. LIVESTRONG
