Well he didn't look VERY good on that climb to Crans Montana did he? Yet, considering where he was during the last race (i.e. nowhere) it's a promising sign.

I'd really like him to wear the tricolore at the Nationals but we'll see...

While I believe Moser might surprise us already this year, I fear he might run into the usual youthful struggle with managing training and the desire to "live the hype".

Having said that I really hope he'll hang on to Sagans wheels in much the same way as the old sly fox Evans does, and stays in the top 10 for many of the flatter stages.. that'll earn him some spots in the Tour de Suisse and possibly Tour de France, while saving some energy for the tougher GC stages.

Not looking great, I agree, but riders kept being dropped and he was always there. And he was brilliant in the last km after Mollema attacked. I thought he was gonna collalpse after being in the red for such a long time, but he's clearly in great shape.

I'm confident for the tricolore. Parcours suits him perfectly.

What do you think about Moreno now? I mean.

Good start in Camaiore, top 10 or close.

Then he wins at Strade Bianche, fantastic work.

And nothing! I mean, nothing! Something good in TT, but no way to see him in front of the bench for an attack or something like that.

Just one year ago he destroyed Kwiatkowski, same age, in Tour of Poland, and now Michal is a top rider while Moreno is in very often in the back part of the peloton.

What about that in your mind?

Then I'll try to express my ideas ;)

Yes, there are riders performing better at this time younger than him.

But for Christ Sake, he's only 23.... Cyclists usually peak around 27-29 years of age.. Not even adding that it is his only 2nd full season as a pro.....

Massively overrated.

One would think he was a RaboFail product

A year ago in Poland he pulled out a good 300m uphill sprint to catch a tired Henao, enough for some people to start comparing him to Gilbert.

Winning Tour of Poland turns out to be as great an indication of future greatness as a TDU victory.

However, comparing him to a Rabo 'talent' is an insult. He can still be good.

As I said months ago, I feel like there are 3 possible explanations.

1- He's got a latent disease. You know those kind of viruses hard to trace...even though it's quite strange, I guess they should've already found out.

2- He got his preparation totally wrong.

3- As Netserk said he's just overrated, you know that one time wonder "Lovkvist-style".

He's very very young, so maybe we should just reset our expectations about him and see what he's gonna deliver in the next months and seasons.

Got to agree with Bushman and Pippo_San's last point. He's still very young, and something didn't go right this year. He's learning, give him time.

Also I think it's too soon to declare him overrated at this point.

A combination of both, I'd say.
I've been among the ones overrating him in the first place. I'll just try to keep my expectations very low from now on.

I sure wasn't expecting his performance today.
His resurrection on the first ascent to Alpe, just beautiful. Overall a great ride.

He said after the stage he paced himself both times and hoped he could catch Riblon and TJ again. He was happy and stunned by the crowd, something he will never forget.

I just checked the results and spotted him finishing 14th today. For now he's flying a little bit under the radar, but he seems to come fine for MSR to help Sagan and for the ardennes to shine himself.

One good performance, then back to mediocrity. This is still 2013 Moser.

He's not a stage racer, his recovery is not good.
And this brings us to the real problem. Why pushing to the limit yesterday, if realistically nothing more than a top15 was at stake?
Why not soft pedal the whole way to the finish and then try getting in the breakaway today?

Last year in Suisse was the same. I struggle to understand why he keeps doing this.

Still my favorite rider though :)

yes, without any doubt his recovery and consistence are not good, at least he should get rid of his GC dream in the future and focus on hunting stage and/or one day races. He should learn from the lesson and do what he should do
