Not a good day when Zambia beat India 5-0.

Oh dear. Do you think that India will ever amount to anything at international level? I am fully aware of the dominance of cricket as the national sport.

I have some decisions to make in less than an hour - if the one link I have for a possible stream of tonight's big 'Championship' (or, as I call it, the Fizzy Pop) game between Boro and West Ham doesn't work, I'll have to decide whether to watch the Chavski vs Scousers or Gooners vs. Citeh cup game, while I record the Barca league game for later viewing.....

Not for the foreseeable future. Football as a professional sport doesn't have much of a scope for earning potential and that's why there aren't thousands of pros in India.

The result wasn't unexpected, Zambia did reach the quarter finals of the African Nations Cup. Just that India faded in the last 20 minutes (most likely due to lack of fitness) and conceded 3 goals.

Arsenal citeh on the radio for me. Only one stream for West Ham's match.

Íñigo Martínez has made something of a name for himself for the spectacular. The Real Sociedad defender hit the headlines when he scored his first goal in La Liga in the Klasika, from inside his own half:

And then, with Sociedad struggling in the league, and an away match at Real Betis this last weekend headed for a draw, he pulled this out in injury time:

Even when not hitting beautiful goals from inside his own half, Íñigo can't help but be spectacular, as this 30m backheel volley into his own net shows:

they got to look at the northeast coz it is there that football is the only game from what i have seen or told but the problem with that is, if i may be blunt the folks from there tends to be not physically big in height and alcohol can be a bit of problem.

Just heard this on radio that Speed committed suicide cos some article need to be published about him as gay, and some relationship with other player.
If this true no big deal at all, if not those papers should be banned for life.

Saw Napoli-Juventus (actually Juventus is one of my favourite clubs, Feyenoord is by far number one btw). It was a great match (3-3) and I really enjoyed it. Napoli came twice in front with two goals difference (2-0/3-1) but Juve stayed calm and played really well. I think Juve can be happy with the way they played and the result. Second half they were great.

whats up with elia? doesn't seem to be getting a lot of play time, been injured?

Nope. Not even part of the selection today and saturday

Manager says he believes in Elia but he'll need some time to get used in Italy. He doesn't speak Italian (doh) but the manager (Conte) only speaks Italian (not sure, but not English or any language they both speak).

Other problem is that also Krasic doesn't play. Both Krasic and Elia are 'special' players who don't always show a constant form but could be decisive for a team. I fear it's hard for these players to convince him, while they also need some faith from the manager, what isn't the fact now.

funny in FIFA, if I play with juve thier my 2 most dangerous players :p

But yeah Elia move is looking not great, would much ratehr see him get some game time in bundesliga then benched at juve.

I read something the other day about PSV maybe taking afellay on load in the janurary transfer window. They suggested his progress suggested a march-ish comeback and breaking into the barca sqaud at that point of the season would be near impossible. With euro in mind PSV would be a more preferable place for returning to play.

at least Ricky van Wolfswinkel is showing some promise in Portugal.

Not many professional teams in the north east and the only real difference between NE and the rest of India is the fact that cricket isn't as dominant there. I think only Shillong has a pro team and that's a major problem.

I saw a twitter from John Etheridge from the Sun on the day Speed died which said,
Suicide doesn't automatically mean a long battle against depression, does it? It can be prompted by a sudden, unexpected trauma.

Bad taste to post that a few hours post the announcement of his death and surprise, no message of condolence from him.

Can't imagine he'll go back to PSV. I think there are enough clubs in Europe who like to buy him who're better than PSV.

no money no pro teams, but still folks from there got serious skill, i dont know whether u have played with them or been to the NE, football is a religion in the east, being mongoloid they have problems when facing big players but things are changing or so i am told by my gf:p...with better diets and all the new are not short in height anymore..case in point, the gifted indian striker Jeje, who is in scotland for trials with rangers.

I've been to Sikkim and Meghalaya (not further and not including Bengal) and definitely agree that the skill level is high. The fact is that the sport isn't as professional as in most countries. I wouldn't call it an untapped resource compared to the rest of the country. It's just that the whole country is an untapped resource including, most definitely, North East India. Let's not forget, our legend Baichung Bhutia is from Sikkim.

Wolfshop :p

like i said loan. Just till mid year, not many teams are gonna be interested in a player with little prospect in regards to playing time.
