Single reason I love the Champions League - my timeline on twitter is spammed by Ajax fans.

Schadenfreude <3.

A day not too hard for the Blues and their fans. :D
They didn't do much wrong. Just play 0:0 at home in first game. Hard group. You are out then.

I find Basel remarkeable, because they sold their coach to HSV few weeks ago and then finished off Manu.
It's all about the coaches. ;)

I hope Uefa rig it so that the final is Man city Manu. Uefa cup final would be bigger than Champions league one.

Shame we couldnt see City take on Real or Barca. Oh well, next year they wont get screwed in the group like that.

Two things first of all - I told anyone who would listen back at the beginning of the season that this Ajax team had no business in the CL because they're simply not good enough. So, no sour grapes from me about them not qualifying for the knock out stage.

Secondly, I intend no personal abuse to our Croatian member.

Having said all that, rarely in the history of questionable Euro results has there been anything that stinks to high heaven as badly as what transpired in Zagreb tonight. One can only hope that the entire team is fined, suspended, and banned from any Euro competition for at least five years, and the ringleaders of the conspiracy jailed.

What Dynamo Zagreb did is worse than a disgrace, it stinks of bribery and corruption. Thankfully questions are already being asked in some quarters and UEFA will hopefully be forced to at least hold an enquiry, not that I expect a UEFA enquiry to unearth any solid evidence, because it's not in UEFA's interest to expose something that they maintain doesn't exist. This stinks of the Croatian mafia and big time gambling interests. I expect that a few Croatians got very rich tonight.

At the same time, the Portuguese linesman disallowed two perfectly good Ajax goals for supposed offside. The replays clearly show that neither decision was even close, neither player was even close to offside. Outrageous.

Evidence? Lyon scored four goals in their previous 450 minutes of CL play, now they score six in one half? Questions are not only being asked in Holland, as you would expect, but also in Belgium and Spain.

How about this friendly wink and thumbs up by the Zagreb player after the 5-1?

oldbong didn't watch the game because he had the munchies.

His team was on ganja, not sure about him. Maybe post match mourning ganja.

Amster, serious points and I don't know what to make of it but without an investigation nothing will be revealed and without a NOTW like sting or evidence of fund transfer, there's very little to build a case. At the moment, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Also reading the Vino buys LBL 2010 thread some would make you believe that fixing is the norm and shouldn't be punished.

Well it is possible why not? I was watching post match analyzes, no one did not say that Lyon is that much better it is impossible, Real scores 7 ok, but Lyon no way.
I am saying if true banned Lyon and Dinamo for 5 years;)
Well maybe Lyon for 7:D cos that Portuguese linesman was on Lyon payroll.
I have always claimed that referees sucks.
Dude before 25 or 30 years here this was high school kid job, results here were about 20:1 and game lasted about 120 minutes or so:)

And this. The pair of you can **** right off.

For those that can't read Dutch, the following says that Ajax will make an official statement about what happened in Zagreb this afternoon. Any protest to UEFA needs to be made within 24 hours of a match.

Here is the video that proves that both Ajax goals were wrongly disallowed.

http://nos.nl/video/320273-ajaxreal-arbiter-keurt-treffers-af.html

I made a mistake last night when I posted that Lyon had scored four goals in their previous 450 minutes of CL football - they only scored two - then they score six in half an hour.

Meanwhile, French betting authorities have launched an investigation into irregularities surrounding the betting on this match.

I do not want to see Ajax 'reinstated' into the CL as a result of this 'affair' because they don't deserve to be among the best 16 teams of Europe. What I do want to see is that any proven bribery is punished in the strongest possible way, especially since Dynamo Zagreb has a history of dubious and suspect practices - a nasty, dirty club from a corrupt competiton dominated by organized crime. Shameful.

Maybe Oldborn could enlighten me about what happened with this case? The quote below is from 2010.

Zoran Mamic under investigation for match fixing

Croatian Minister of the Interior Tomislav Karamarko on Monday confirmed that the Croatian police were continuing cooperation with their German colleagues in an investigation into the rigging of First Croatian Football Division matches, declining to comment on media reports that Zoran Mamic, sports director of the soccer club Dinamo Zagreb, was under investigation.

"The operation Offside is still in progress and it would not be good to give any comments or prejudge anything. We are cooperating with our German colleagues in the case," Karamarko told reporters.

The media have reported that German prosecutors suspect Mamic of fixing the national cup's first final match between Dinamo and Hajduk last year.

The Sportske Novosti paper on Sunday reported that German prosecutors have evidence that Mamic, referees and the-so called betting mob had fixed last year's first final cup match in which Dinamo beat Hajduk 3:0.

The report was carried on Monday by almost all domestic media.

Ante Sapina, a Croatian living in Germany, has been linked with this case. Sapina has been involved in several scandals regarding match fixing and he reportedly earned 1.4 million euros on the Dinamo-Hajduk match.

The German state prosecutor's office in Bochum, which is investigating match-fixing scandals, today would not either confirm or deny reports in the Croatian media, and the Croatian anti-corruption agency USKOK would not comment either.

Dinamo issued a statement today condemning in the strongest terms illegal betting and match fixing, describing media reports implicating Mamic as dangerous and destructive.

Based on data provided by the German police, the Croatian police last year launched an operation called Offside, arresting 22 sport workers and footballers for fixing matches for personal gain.

Three of the alleged organisers of the scam remain in custody.

http://daily.tportal.hr/79247/Interior-minister-says-operation-Offside-still-in-progress.html

edited to add this statement from the Dinamo website -

'It's scandalous and malicious to proclaim the Champions League match between Dinamo and Lyon as suspicious which is also underrating of Dinamo's opponent Lyon just because they got the needed win to qualify to the next round of the Champions League. Dinamo ended the match with a shameless result which already caused certain measures taken from the club board. Off course, no one in club can't be satisfied after that result, but it is also obvious that Dinamo was fighting after taking the lead, after equalising and when Lyon took the lead to achieve the best possible result. GNK Dinamo once again strongly objects to all domestic and foreign media speculation about any dishonourable actions regarding the game result. A better team with an extra player won the game in Maksimir and managed to qualify for the next stage of the UEFA Champions league. We kindly ask all media representatives to stop with their discussion regarding this matter because it is humiliating for the reputation of our club, football and sport in general to do so. In case this speculation doesn't stop GNK Dinamo will be forced to take all possible legal measures to protect its rights'.

I think they mean "shameful" rather than "shameless". I hope that all possible legal measures are taken against Dinamo and that this team of criminals goes out of business. A shame for honest fans, but no more than this corrupt club with an insane chairman deserves.

Grow up a little bit  Ajax was a little too confident to reach the next round, a little schadenfreude isn't that bad if it isn't too aggressive. What obviously wasn't the case here.

Of course I knew and of course we are all the same, everybody knew it.
I just heard rumors that players actually did it for free (almost) it was cheap maybe 10 000 euros, just to get Ajax out of CL.;)
