Wow. Incredible.
I think this match is massive for Djokovic' legacy and tennis history even if Djokovic loses the final on Sunday. It really disses the idea that Alcaraz and Sinner just reached the next level that is up there with the Big 3 in their primes that many want to propagate.

Sinners's 5th set record meanwhile is getting really painful for a player his calibre. 2-10 vs top 50 players. Yikes.

The Aussie tournament badly needed the mens semis to deliver big and they did. The Joker with 4 hours on court means a fair start to the mens final methink, provided Alcaraz is not injured.

And Medvedev simply had nothing to give in the 4th and 5th set in the 2024 AO final, given how much he played just to get to that stage. Should be 1-11.

No, it shouldn't. Fatigue naturally plays its role in best of 5, you can't just cherry-pick a specific match and exclude it.

Kinda. But he won that match in a fairly large part due to circumstances completely outside of his own effort.

This is also one of the reasons I think the "time at #1 record" is completely overrated

Sounds a bit like how Nibali won three of his Grand Tours ;)
