I can't evaluate the U23 riders mentioned. But in general it makes sense that the team is looking for talented riders for the mountains. After all, the goal is to have a rider in 5 years who has ridden for the U23-team and can win the TDF. The team needs riders who can be trusted to do this, and they are the hardest to get on the market. There are other talented riders in the U19-team, for example, but certainly no potential Tour winner. I could imagine that 1-2 riders from the U19 will join them, then a few more riders to frame it. But presumably the 3 should already be the central basis, which is why they are named as the first riders.Maybe I am reading too much into it but all three seem to be very strong in hilly/mountain terrain. Maybe that’s the future direction…which makes sense if you want to develop a TdF winner.
