Beginning of the year, before the schedules were known it was said to have Kämna and Martinez. Hindley and Vlasov aren't bad, but nothing compared to UAE. And Visma was first also expected to have a better lineup, which they don't have now unfortunately.
Okay. I think you underestimate Hindley, and I don't see the value in additional climbers. Van Poppel and Haller are better support than Martinez after the Giro.

I underestimate the rider that finished 20th in the Dauphine? While last year he finished 4th and rode a decent Tour.

I do think they could use additional climbers since Roglic wants to win the TDF.

Plus Roglic actually needs support on hectic flat stages...

The optimal outcome for Bora is Roglic sucking wheel for 2,5 weeks without getting really badly dropped by the other contenders. Then the last two stages with a TT that fits Roglic really good could be a chance to get into the race for yellow.

That's the best outcome because it's more plausibel atm that Roglic will get badly dropped or crashes...in that scenario more moutnain support won't cut it.

So the tasks for Bora (I dwon't use their new team name) is to avoid crashes in flat stages (van Poppel, Haller), have good positioning at crucial points (jungels, Denz) and be present in break formation stage to take pressure of the team. So Vlasov and Hindley could be good enough to go with a Ayuso, Pidcock, Landa or Jorgensen in a break formation phase in the first week.

If Boras has to make the race early on in the mountains then they are probably already in big trouble.

I think the selection is ok. Kämna is obviously missing...even to go for stage wins ig Roglic doesn't work out. Martinez and Lipowitz could be reunited in the Vuelta.

Let´s switch the focus a bit towards the new Development Team.

At the moment there are no big news about the new team, only that Benedetti is confirmed as a sports director.
From the U19 ranks i´ll think the following riders will step up (if they want to):

- Fietzke
- Casey
- Clemmensen
- Finn
- Kral

The following riders left the U19 program in the last years and are still connect to the cooperation partner Lotto Kern Haus:

- Kockelman
- Pajur
- Barta

Schrettl is riding for Tirol KTM which was a cooperation partner till the beginning of 2024.

So 9 riders maximum (if all wanna join and Bora want them to join). I think that more riders then that are needed to ride a decent calendar.

Maybe there will be some U19 riders added which are currently in other teams, if i can choose i would go for:

- Pavel Sumpik (i have no information if he already signed a contract)
- Paul Seixas (a bit unrealistic but maybe he hast not signed a contract with Decathlon yet)

As a suprise i would add Lennart Jasch a former ice skater who joined cycling this year and had some promising results at Oberösterreich Rundfahrt and a good result (for a newcomer) at the German Championship.

From the WT Team it seems very likely that Palzer and Lührs are not getting there contracts renewed, so maybe it will be an option for both of them to join the Development Team. Lührs is still U23 and can make a step back to maybe make two steps forward? Palzer wanted to ride a gravel race already this year so he can combine a bit of gravel and a bit of racing with the development team and a bit of racing with the world tour team in the smaller races.
I don´t know who far of this is, but for me it seems likely that the riders from the development team fill up the ranks of the WT team on a regulary base in non WT races. So that the "stars" of the WT Team can concentrate and peak on there highlights in the world tour and the development team riders can fill the gaps in races like Mallorca, Sibiu Tour, Czech Tour and so on.

Great post!
I hoped to get more information on the Team presentation but I guess it’s still premature.
Agree on your Grenke - Auto Eder riders, with the exception of Finn. In his case I could see him ride one more year in the juniors …eventough he looks REALLY promising.

reg former Auto Eder riders I am especially curious about Schrettl. I would love them to develop him into a mountain domestique.
Btw I am really suprised by the jump Hajek did this year!!

I am definitely looking very much forward to the new development team

Unfortunately for you, Finn aged out of the juniors category for the next year. Although it's only for a couple of days.

I do think they have the crap together, Hindley has just been shite for a while and Vlasov is Vlasov in the high mountains. Still very disappointing.

Someone should let Vlasov and Hindley know.
Maybe the Hindley from the last week of the Giro 2022 could have been there and pulled for Roglic in the downhill. Realistically the level is that high that only. few riders in the world on a good day can be there as a domestique. Bora doesn't have such a rider and it will be hard to get one even with the increased budget.

Vlasov has never been good at altitude, he always underperformed in the high mountains since the Gazprom days.
Hindley being this bad is more worrying for the team as a whole.

Likely a bit unrealistic expectation, to be there today, for Rogla, still, deeper in the race i do expect more.
