His performance was bound to raise the question of his role at the upcoming Tour de France, where Primož Roglič should be the team leader despite the Slovenian having to abandon the Giro d’Italia after several crashes. For Lipowitz, the plan remains unchanged.

“The plan is to help him. He's still the big leader, and I think he showed in the past that he's super strong, and also in three weeks, he can race well. So my main goal will be to help him in the climbs. I thought here that I'm in good shape and maybe make a difference also.”

This should settle it then, all in for GC battle at the Tour 2025. Personally i don't mind if the team keeps Lipo in contention for as long as that is sensible. Somehow i still feel that the team will really need to step up and to do that early on. If such sacrifices are being made, then lets at least honour them, by winning this thing!

What was that in Switzerland today? Of course the conditions were difficult and Palzer also crashed. But nobody in the huge top group? Which was also to be expected? (Maybe Sobrero was there, he scored points in between, but I couldn't find anything about it). Vlasov then not in the group of favorites at the end. Once again a disappointment. That can always happen. Especially on days like today. Unfortunately, it happens extremely often this year.

Atm I would seriously consider taking Vlasov off the Tour team. Probably van Gils is climbing better and Pithie also looked strong in the Dauphine.

Roglic, Lipo, van Poppel, Tratnik, Martinez (also a big questionmark), van Gils, Pithie, Fisher-Black (?), denz was also rumoured to be on the long-list for the Tour. With the emergence of Lipo as a serious Top 5 threat I would think they should take more people to support in the first week in hilly and flat terrain and don't hope on Vlasov and Martinez being usefull in the mountains as domestiques. They probably should have one climbing domestique. The rest should be focused on keeping the leaders safe and making early breaks in the decisive stages.

My team would be: Roglic, Lipo, Vlasov/DFM, Van Gils, Adrià, Fisher-Black, Pithie, Van Poppel.

Between Vlasov and DFM, I'd choose the one who's in the least bad shape right now. Also, if Sobrero does something in the rest of Switzerland, he's a possibility instead of Fisher-Black.
I assume Hindley and Tratnik aren't fit due to injuries.

It is very difficult to find after good team for the Tour. Because of injuries and lack of form. On paper the squads for the Giro and the Tour looks even better.

Safe are Lipowitz, Roglic and Van Poppel.
Behind that it is very unclear for me. Planned were Vlasov, Martinez and Tratnik. But Vlasov is not in the best shape in Switzerland and the whole season as Martinez as well.

My guess at the moment: Lipo, Roglic, Van Poppel, Van Gils, Adria, Tratnik, Vlasov, Sobrero (the last one as the dark horse after his injury and I think he was never plsnnend for the Tour)

The good thing for them is, that Lipo and Roglic probably just have to follow Evenepoel / Quickstep very often. Quick step will protect Evenepoel according to their ambitions.
And then Roglic / Lipowitz can strike towards the end of the stages :), if they feel like.
