Not really. Its pretty easy to tell what riders fluked a podium or even a win. Lately, you can point at riders such as Hugh Carthy and Jack Haig for example off the top of my mind who are riders that podiummed, but it was obvious that was their ceiling in races where everything went right.

Then again, Tao G and Hindley won GT's. I thought they both were flukes in 2020, and while Tao hasn't performed really, he looked extremely good and ready to contest the win in 23 while Hindley won in 22

Haig and Carthy did not podium the TDF.

No way vingeegard will do giro next year, he wants the revenge with a proper preparation, surely he will go all in for TDF.

Remco should think well about his schedule next season, tour is tour but 9 minutes is just too much to believe he can have a chance to beat the alien(s).
I do think Jonas will do the Giro, he must try it at some point. And next year will be perfect.

Big mistake if he does will only get a bigger smackdown. I think Remco only will continue to close that gap I see no reason why not. His first year he nailed GT properly still only 24 I see no reason he wont decrease the gap to Vingegaard.

Great Tour from Remco btw. Love the way he rides. Panache, balls and hearth. Gratz on your Tdf podium and hopefully just the beginning of something great.

We deserve to see the best riders in the biggest races. He should plan for the Tour.

Indeed, he tried, as you should. What an amazing ride of Remco the past 3 weeks. Definitely made the Tour more fun to watch with his attacking mindset
100% agree and also he is 24 and this was his first Tour. Its very plausible he will only get much better relative to Vingegaard for instance which I expect and wouldnt surprise me at all come next year and year after.

Mindset....is one thing. Executing the plan is another thing.

Now he knows what is required to win or be closer to no. 1 spot. He was "best of the rest" by far and to be honest I did not expect it (especially in the mountains).

His attack attempt to get 2nd spot was expected since Vinge showed some vunerabilty but was stronger in the end.

He could do a lot in the future with better preparations and also stronger team.

I turned out to be right about Evenpoel guys and dont you forget that, I said this before the Tour. And Pogacar ofcourse.

Evenpoel did his best ever GT and I love to see it im even more encouraged from whats to come from him next years after this. Allez allez what a ride 24 years dont fool yourself and think he will just accelerate even more now.
He has unlocked the keys now.

Expect good things to come.

I haven't watched that many Tours for someone my age, but I've already forgot who finished 3rd in most of them. But I think I'll be able to remember this one for a long time. It's so....well 'commanding' is a wrong word since two other guys bossed him around, but you know what I mean, it's just a really good one.

So you hope the third best GT rider doesn't try to beat the best two in the future, while it is clear as day that he still has plenty to improve upon. You like watching the most boring GT's i guess. Or you think Almeida or Rodriguez or whoever are going to beat them? Hindley? Mas? Hart? Maybe you can make an assessment of other riders who are not even close to Evenepoel's level, that you think are going to beat Pogi.

Should Vingegaard keep trying? Evenepoel was closer to him than he was to Pogacar. So if even the 3rd best GT rider shouldn't bother anymore, then what should all the others do? Maybe everyone should sign for UAE to make Pog's life even easier.

You think winning the Giro might be worthwile? The Vuelta again? What about Pogi getting covid or crashing one day during the TDF, let's hand that victory to the first guy who actually didn't give up trying.
Woah, take it easy there sport.
I want him to succeed and get the most out of his career. In my opinion, focussing on winning the TdF would definitely be the wrong road for him. That's my opinion. You're free to disagree of course, but maybe be a bit less defensive about it?
