Trouble is he will never beat Vingegaard or Pogacar, so you do have to question whether the GT focus makes that much sense...Bad winter is clearly showing now. I really don't understand why he so hard wanted to peak for the Ardennes classics. Not only was that bad, and now TDF is already over after 2 weeks because of his shitty base. Don't expect much at the end of the season either. Just another lost season
Do you still think he'll get a podium?Apart from Mas and Jorgenson (and thats a stretch anyway), non of the other contenders for a podium gained time on him. So thats for sure an overly negative view. Should still be on of the favourites for the remaining podium spot.
if he wasnt able to find out on the warm up that the watts are missing i see no reason why he would find out in the reconYes of course he would have known he doesn't have the legs for that, and he should have gone for a lighter bike if you can't push your watts.
Second time he’s gone too hard too fast after a bad injury and paid the price. Making that mistake two times out of two is indefensible.Bad winter is clearly showing now. Not ruling it out, but no, don't think so.Do you still think he'll get a podium?
I could see after the first couple of stages that he wasn't up to it this year.
Remco thought the Aliens were coming for him, when Jonas passed by.He's looking so forlorn. Still he should be proud, still in the podium spot, although he was probably closer to the first two last year.

Shows the importance of the winter consdering he got heavily injured in April last year and peaked for the TdF completely fine.Second time he’s gone too hard too fast after a bad injury and paid the price. Making that mistake two times out of two is indefensible.
Having said that, it maybe could have worked if he’d done the Vuelta rather than the Tour.
He was back racing two months after that crash, whereas he took four months to start his season after this winter's crash. That's a big, big difference.Shows the importance of the winter consdering he got heavily injured in April last year and peaked for the TdF completely fine.
I expect a Vuelta 2023 Tourmalet debacle tomorrow. Maybe that will liberate him for the rest of the TdF.Do you still think he'll get a podium?

Did you watch the Dauphiné last year? The writing was on the wall in the Dauphine when he was no match for Lipowitz in the mountains. I think he'll rally to some extent but he's not going to win the white jersey.
And I think an even bigger problem is they don’t even recognize it. They don’t see that this was a problem, that they made a mistake. With the idea “well it’s Evenepoel we’ve seen him do remarkable things it’s not the same as for a normal rider”. It’s just plain dumb.Second time he’s gone too hard too fast after a bad injury and paid the price. Making that mistake two times out of two is indefensible.

Everyone else not named Vingegaard and Pogacar targeting GTs has a fraction of the odds of winning big classics that Evenepoel does.Right, tell everyone not named Vingegaard and Pogacar to stop riding GT's then.
Never understood why people always overreact.
Big classics where neither Pogi or Mathieu racing?Everyone else not named Vingegaard and Pogacar targeting GTs has a fraction of the odds of winning big classics that Evenepoel does.

Evenepoel absolutely has a shot at Sanremo and maybe RVV.Big classics where neither Pogi or Mathieu racing?
