Well i barely post in the Pogacar thread...The more interesting fact is that Remco's thread has 5M views, whilst Pog's got only 4M. In short, the Remco thread is a better read, as I'm sure all lurkermen can confirm

It will take a miracle, but a Lombardy win would mean so much more for Remco than it would for Tadej.
Same was true for the EC RR imo. Against my own, more rational sense, i'll be hoping for a Remco win tomorrow.
Pog is past peak…
Not impossible, but I think that’s pulling at straws, frankly.
Only way is a mechanical.
At very best Remco catches him on the flat (only if he is just a little behind at top of last big climb). But then Remco has to sit on his wheel (which he has never done) and even then Pog could still win the sprint.
😐
For that to work they have to be pretty much isolated together with 25K to go and no more climbs and a group still fairly close behind. A headwind would not hurt either.Maybe the way to dull Pog's sprint is to do what Remco did at Amstel. Going to the front and cooking Pog on the flat. Pog, like everyone else, won't get much of a rest behind Remco
Again, this myth continues to live in some Remco fans.Maybe the way to dull Pog's sprint is to do what Remco did at Amstel. Going to the front and cooking Pog on the flat. Pog, like everyone else, won't get much of a rest behind Remco
Not a myth, showed this at AGR.Again, this myth continues to live in some Remco fans.
he will need time to recover from saddle problems after he gets droped againIt seems set in stone Lombardy will be final race of the season for Remco.
And i don't understand why..
Chrono is just a week away.
The problem is, that dulls Remco's sprint too. Skjelmose beat Pogacar at AGR, but Pogacar beat Remco, remember?Maybe the way to dull Pog's sprint is to do what Remco did at Amstel. Going to the front and cooking Pog on the flat. Pog, like everyone else, won't get much of a rest behind Remco
Slight difference here in that is @houtdffan suggesting he do it with Pog in a group of 2- Amstel Remco was chasing. Not sure how riding at the front for 20km before finish is going to increase his chances in a sprint. Not a myth, showed this at AGR.
Yeah I don’t see Pogacar lose today. I’m just saying that Evenepoel can cook anyone on the flats with them in his wheel. Also Pogacar, which he showed after catching up with him.Slight difference here in that is @houtdffan suggesting he do it with Pog in a group of 2- Amstel Remco was chasing. Difficult to see Pog being beaten today - but it’s bike racing and anything can happen- he is definitely in the form to capitalise.
Anyone except for Skjelmose? Pogačar was already cookedYeah I don’t see Pogacar lose today. I’m just saying that Evenepoel can cook anyone on the flats with them in his wheel. Also Pogacar, which he showed after catching up with him.
Skjelmose was also cooked, that's why he also didn't take any turns.Anyone except for Skjelmose? Pogačar was already cooked
So how well did the strategy of leading out the sprint from the front to keep the pace up work out if he was beaten by two cooked riders in his wheel?Skjelmose was also cooked, that's why he also didn't take any turns.
His botched up his sprint by starting to early when there was headwind. So how well did the strategy of leading out the sprint from the front to keep the pace up work out if he was beaten by two cooked riders in his wheel?
Remco is no Mathieu. His botched up his sprint by starting to early when there was headwind.
There is nothing wrong with leading out the sprint. How did that workout for MVDP in MSR this year?
If you know what you are doing, and you are the best sprinter, it can be the right play in the last 400 m.His botched up his sprint by starting to early when there was headwind.

Did he truly cook the others on the flat by pulling before the sprint? I have a hard time believing that he wouldn't have fared better with a far more "negative" approach, only hitting the wind in the last 200 m.Maybe the way to dull Pog's sprint is to do what Remco did at Amstel. Going to the front and cooking Pog on the flat. Pog, like everyone else, won't get much of a rest behind Remco
I agree that he pulls way too much in the last kilometers, and he probably is too nervous and inexperienced to push it to a standstill. But in this specific AGR case, there were bigger mistakes that were made besides that.If you know what you are doing, and you are the best sprinter, it can be the right play in the last 400 m.
But Evenepoel more or less led the group from the bottom of Cauberg.
And do you generally think trying to cook the others on the flat by pulling them with a sustained high pace is a good approach to racing for him?I agree that he pulls way too much in the last kilometers, and he probably is too nervous and inexperienced to push it to a standstill. But in this specific AGR case, there were bigger mistakes that were made besides that.
he he, belgians and their excuses, he he; you see thats why i like this thread; its damn funnyHis botched up his sprint by starting to early when there was headwind.
There is nothing wrong with leading out the sprint. How did that workout for MVDP in MSR this year?
oh come on, if there is no headwind and no saddle problems Remco can take MVP in a sprint.Remco is no Mathieu.
Yes. He showed that multiple times that it worked. And do you generally think trying to cook the others on the flat by pulling them with a sustained high pace is a good approach to racing for him?
No one is saying that's an excuse. It's just an explanation of losing. Just like Pogacar NOT crashing during PR might have given a different result.he he, belgians and their excuses, he he; you see thats why i like this thread; its damn funny
yeah inexperience next to headwind and saddle problems, thats hard to overcomeI agree that he pulls way too much in the last kilometers, and he probably is too nervous and inexperienced to push it to a standstill. But in this specific AGR case, there were bigger mistakes that were made besides that.
So if he had only started his sprint later, you think he rode the last 3 km the right way to win?Yes. He showed that multiple times that it worked.
