He does sound sick here

That uphill sprint 2 days ago. Maybe Roglic noticed something odd about Remco at the finish is my guess. Okay that 5min steep hill was right up Roglic's ally, but to go from the bottom immediately was a surprise for me. I think Roglic saw/knew something and went all out. That sprint was very unnecessary if he's ill.If it’s illness then that is an interesting and unique aspect of grand tour bike racing. You don’t let your rivals know for sure you are sick as that will encourage them to attack. I think Roglic and Ineos will attack to get time before he possibly recovers.
Yeah not only sounds but also looks a bit sick as well, swollen around the eyes and cheeks. He does sound sick hereView: https://youtu.be/Bv2SuRQXfAc

Not necessarily sick, but certainly tuckered out!Yeah not only sounds but also looks a bit sick as well, swollen around the eyes and cheeks.
1. He won Liege last year coming off getting destroyed in the final day of Itzulia. Without Pog or arguably Rog, he can win that race without top formI don't know. Taking his first time split as the reference for his pacing plan seems pretty arbitrary to me. If he realized he cannot go as fast as planned he might have reduced his pace after 2km already for all we know. After all it's not like he blew himself up, riding the final part at the same pace as Thomas.
About the why, I just can't think it's anything other than the crashes, maybe together with other factors like high pressure and bad weather wearing him down. The recent comparisons to the last two stages (stage 1 and LBL) are just too on the nose to ignore. You don't just go from arguably the most dominant performance in a hilly classic in a decade to being dropped by multiple guys on the exact same kind of climb. Just like you don't just go from putting half a minute to a minute into all your opponents in an 18 km TT just to be on par with them in one twice as long. If you think he peaked too early than maybe that's a 2nd explanation, but I simply cannot believe a rider in the modern peloton would mess up his peak that badly.
And on another note, as the comparison to his 3rd week in the Vuelta, where he bounced back from suffering in the 2nd week, is quite obvious, I'm a little sad we didn't get to see another all out battle in that 3rd week as a reference point. Sure, he looked pretty good again, even winning one of the stages, but he didn't have another climbing performance like in week 1 where he was really climbing head and shoulders above his competition. We don't really know if he was actually back to his week 1 level in week 3.

Maybe he can cure it with a bath, the forecast for the first half of Tuesday‘s stage is perfect for that.If he is sick or has an infection, the next two weeks of this Giro is not the medicine he needs.
And not only Weds, Thurs and Friday seem no better.Maybe he can cure it with a bath, the forecast for the first half of Tuesday‘s stage is perfect for that.
He even tried the Pogacar hair lock to turn things arround.Me when I realize it's Monday again tomorrow

He was 5 seconds off the top vs one of the worlds top 5 minute W/kg climber, he cannot be terrible that's for sure.I think a positive from this stage that fans and detractors are overlooking is Evenepoel still won the stage and gained time on everyone. Now, it was certainly not the amount of time that he would have liked nor am I sure did he expect to be this fatigued after the fact. But whatever the reason; crashes, illness, fatigue, and/or form dropping he still in the moment of feeling all of that won. While that may not come into play this Giro, it could in future GTs of everything going against you but you knowing you can mentally push on to overcome it. We’ve already seen a great champion crumble after finding out how much time he was losing in a time trial.
Thomas looked twice as bad watching Remco arriveWhat about DamDam Caruso? Everyone within 1 minute doing their life’s ride, and Remco was just ordinary Remco?
He looked so worn in the post-stage interview I think it’s more probable than not we won’t get to see a proper Remco v Rog v Ineos-duo. Which is a shame.
Remco's nerves made Roglic nervousMaybe his nerves played him a trick?
thank you for your contribution...don't let us Remco fans get on your nerves, you can just read the post from those who dislike Remco.Anyone know what Geraint Thomas's unflattering nickname is for Remco ?
As for Remco and this Giro ...his fans on here are insane . Its he is either going to win everything in sight and trash everyone (which is super annoying to have in your face all the time) or he is going to lose everything and its a disaster
Can you not stop the histrionics. There is a long way to go yet and even another TT. no one has lost or won the Giro
I so hate beeing right in this instanceYea man I dont even like Bambi matter of fact nothing Id like to see more than him getting spanked fair and square... but this man is definately sick at the very least he had terrible sleep for a few days
