Remco's positioning yesterday was very poor. You can clearly see roglic making his way forward in the group, obviously preparing to launch, but remco sits a bunch of spots behind. That's just a huge mistake, he needs to be on the wheel of Roglic.

Considering that Leknesund could follow for a while and that the ineos guys could come back, it seems to me that this wasn't a massive Roglic attack. Remco in top shape would be able to follow that or ride tempo. I think he suffered massively from his fall.

He's parroting his DS. Remember how genius Lodewyck was claiming Evenepoel was in the advantage over Roglic the more climbing there was. That guy is Evenepoel's worst enemy.

He also said a couple of weeks ago that he is equal in climbing to Roglič (based on Catalunya), but better in the TTs so the goals is to just gain a lot of time there and he will win the race. But the thing is TT and climbing form change. From day to day, even more so from month to month. So making a simple conclusion like that is not the best idea.

He couldn't be on the wheel of Roglic becasue he was already on the limit. Roglic was also very poorly positioned (even worse than Remco) on the last climb, but he had the legs to move up. What I am saying is that Remco didn't choose to not be on the wheel of Roglic but rather his legs did (or lack of them).

Evenepoel has lost every single ITT over 40km he's ever done.

Well he hasn't exactly done many during his career but was already two times on the podium of the World Championships on those distances.

Regarding today's stage, I think the headwind should favour Remco but not the possibility of a wet course, so having factor that in, he should probably gain around a minute on Roglič, Almeida and Thomas with all other GC riders losing at least 1:30.

Remco climbs best when he gets to the front and dictates pace. An Indurain/Ullrich.

He gets into trouble when he lets others set the pace and is forced to respond to rhythm changes. In the big mountains, he needs to do what he did in the Vuelta and simply set the pace himself

Evenepoel has lost every single ITT over 40km he's ever done.

We don't have more than 3 ITT all season with such lenght since...? Put a proper TT (with +45 km) and he would put 3 minutes in 99% of the peloton

He was able to do it once Roglic attacked though. It would seem to me that part of that energy was better spent trying to move up with Roglic at that time and reduce the initial gap that way. But I do agree that he definitely didn't have the legs yesterday.

It's just Geraint Thomas did the best TT of his life. And Roglic coming only 17 secs behind has always been an excellent TT racer. Don't forget he is the 2017 TT Vice World Champion.

That is why he dropped like a rock. Just like yesterday he can't push what his body is supposed to push. He bonked yesterday and today. They all use power meters, they know what they should do given the heart rate. He is probably 10-20w under his expectation.

Anyway, lets see how he looks after the rest day. But in this form he is not going to win it.

If Remco had maintained his pace at the 1st check point, he would have finished in 39:42, two minutes ahead of Roglic.

Well if it is the crashes, he will have a few days of recovery now, and probably recover properly at least in the third week. And he still has 45+ seconds advantage on everyone in the GC, so this is not a reason to believe he will lose the Giro.
