Aren't there studies indicating that the "younger" versions of the virus attack your T-cells, and it basically ends up working similar to HIV? If so, it may impact his career not now but in later years.
I lost track of this thread, so I had to start 10 pages back.
"... yep, they're still talking about his weight. Sigh.'
So I thought, "let's just skip to the last page already.

Little did I know that it would go from obesity straight to aids... I mean wtf? :tearsofjoy:

My friends: Is there anyway other than streaming with Peacock and Tiz-Cycling etc, where I can watch the whole Tour. I would like a station where I can record the stage cause sometimes I'm not home. With stupid peacock you cannot record.
Go Remco Go!

What's your location? I always assumed you were Belgian (it's quite a common name here for a certain age demographic). Legality aside, TIZ records every stage and will upload it a few hours later on their homepage. In Belgium, TV rights are with the national stations, and they can both (VRT/Sporza and RTBF) be viewed and replayed on their web apps (VRT Max and Auvio) all across Europe, for free, but you will need to make an account and "confirm" to live in Belgium.
But since you are mentioning Peacock...

Thank you Logic. Yes I'm Belgian, but I'm at the moment in USA. I guess I will continue watching on Tiz-Cycling.
Oh, in that case, just use a VPN! (If you don't know what a VPN does, it tricks the website/app into thinking you are at another location as soon as you are connected to it). That way you can watch the Belgian streams in the US in perfect quality and your native language.

There are tons of free VPNs, that offer locations within Europe. As long VRT Max or Auvio think you are anywhere within the EU, you will be able to watch their streams and replays in the app. If you can not find a good free VPN, take a look at Windscribe, you can get a good deal for $3 for one month, with their "Build a plan" deal, it's all you need. Then all you need is a free account for VRT Max or Auvio, log in, and stream.

Remco is looking lean and hedging appropriately. I think he’ll be on the podium if he avoids crashes and other mishaps. One of the other big 4 will be caught out by crashes (or by the lingering effects of previous crashes) or something else, and Remco is better than everyone else when on form. I’m pulling for Roglic but would not be disappointed to see Remco win. He’s got the hollow cheeks, the time trial, and the chutzpah to pull this off. I think he held back in the Dauphine and has lost weight and will be ready to rumble.

Not if you listen to the Move preview of the Tour. Remco is written off completely by Lance and co. Even Johann, to my suprise, was dismissive of even the possibility Evenepoel does anything noteworthy GC wise, stating the usual he can't climb in the high mountains. Only Hincapie seems to reserve some possibility for a GC Remco. It's shocking Bruyneel doesn't consider the circumstances behind why Remco hasn't performed consistently in the high mountains or at least acknowledge that he hasn't had a smooth run and that the team didn't always make the best decisions in preparing him for the task. Anyway, I hope Remco proves them wrong in this Tour, although I won't be suprised if he has a sans jour in the third week, just hopefully not today.

It was the same before the Vuelta of 2022. Can’t see Remco not finishing top 5 in this form.

There is zero to support that, many people are asymptomatic, don't know that they are carrying virus, often untested. Others have extensive symptoms and don't have high viral load. Ultra endurance athletes like bike racers are a tiny, tiny ,even tiniest of control group, with a few thousand at a high level existing in the world, so a pro bike racers immunity profile impossible to predict, their recovery or reactions, again impossible to predict. And if you are experiencing symptoms ( sickness) the complexity of training, racing despite it, and what long term effects are , a complete unknown, medical mystery at best. No data.
Totally agree and reaction to variants have been all over the map. We have a new wave going on here that appears to be like a quick cold or passing allergies.

So what do you guys think about Remco today? For me he never looked in trouble, relaxed and not taking any wind. Saving energy. Not the biggest test i know, but good to have these kilometers in the legs so he can build towards top form in the 2 og 3 week. Maybe at 90-95% of top form now!?Had this been a classic (LBL/San Sebastian) at 100% form, he probably would have attacked around the same time that Bardet did, but he is riding more conservative and thats probably wise so early on in the tour.

Agree with your thoughts. He had a good day, and did what he should have done. Looked strong, looked smart.
