I believe he will be back to his best. Normally, injuries in the upper body are not severe enough to compromise his career. But I'm afraid this year will be very disappointing. Even if he was at his best (with a perfect preparation), he can't win the Tour but he could have some wins in the Spring, maybe even in the Giro. Now, it seems only Kigali/GdL can save his season. I'm a little worried about his position on the TT bike. We know his big advantage is how aerodynamic he is compared to more powerful TT riders like WVA or Ganna (they are a lot heavier) so this injury can upset his chances in future TTs (specially in the Tour where he is targetting the YJ in stage 5).
Get well soon mate! Ardennes got a lot more boring without you. I still think Pogacar would win but now, it will be a walk in the park.

I think they are just extremely cautious after what happened in 2021. As well as the injury being very severe. They don’t want to take any chance of going too fast, since his only really important goal is the TDF.

So all of that combined results in this behaviour.
I still get the sense that the rehab for his injuries, and perhaps even the medical treatment, is pretty far from cutting edge

may have to do the giro at this point, just to get decent rides in. Maybe even as his first race back

Just dont blow an engine if dropped like he did in 2021. He needs to remember, the tour is his goal
I dont think it's necessary. If there is one thing we've learned over the past 5 years or so is that riders dont need to do a lot of racing to get into top form. Even if he misses the Ardennes (which I think is still very unlikely based on those comments), there are possibilities to do Hungary or Norway if he wants some race days before Dauphine and NC.

Remco smiling like a farmer with a toothache (as the saying goes in Dutch) after winning the Sportsman of the Year award for the 4th time.

Knowing how ambitious and eager he is, he must be going through some mentally tough times. Painful to see as a fan.

I hope it's just a minor setback and the recovery goes smoothly once he can start the indoor training and extensive physiotherapy on his shoulder.

But like Peyroteo94 I also fear a little bit that all these crashes and subsequent damage on his shoulder might hurt his aerodynamic position, especially on the TT bike but also on his road bike. It's a good thing he already won basically everything there is to win as a TT rider but it would suck to lose his aerodynamic advantage/strength both in TT's and in road races.

In the grand scheme of current things it obviously means nothing but I'm actually curious to see if there are any (new) golden details on his new jersey and bike, especially the TT jersey and bike since he is World and Olympian Champion in that discipline.

Because of his crash and injuries he missed the team presentation and the training camp where they do the photoshoots with the new jerseys/bikes.

What's with all these young guys going full steam around traffic and ramming into cars? Thinking of Egan Bernal, Tom Pidcock a couple years ago, and now Remco. There is a time to go full steam and a time to be cautious. Maybe young guys just don't have a lot of wisdom.
I'm not sure it's just young guys. All of these guys were cyclists riding in traffic and all kinds of crazy places when they were younger and, as with any of us who has ridden a bike their whole life it's just the normal thing to do. Pros of course go to team sponsored camps where there is more safety and can ride their trainers, but they have to still go out and train on their own. But Bernal's accident seems different because training on the TT bike in traffic seems like an altogether more hazardous undertaking.
