I still get the sense that the rehab for his injuries, and perhaps even the medical treatment, is pretty far from cutting edgeI think they are just extremely cautious after what happened in 2021. As well as the injury being very severe. They don’t want to take any chance of going too fast, since his only really important goal is the TDF.
So all of that combined results in this behaviour.
He looked very down during the interview, which is understandable of course. How many seasons did he have without any issues? This is his 7th season with the pro's now, and only 2 (2019, 2022) of them weren't spoiled due to injury or illness.I have the impression that his latest injury gives him a very hard time, physically and mentally
I dont think it's necessary. If there is one thing we've learned over the past 5 years or so is that riders dont need to do a lot of racing to get into top form. Even if he misses the Ardennes (which I think is still very unlikely based on those comments), there are possibilities to do Hungary or Norway if he wants some race days before Dauphine and NC.may have to do the giro at this point, just to get decent rides in. Maybe even as his first race back
Just dont blow an engine if dropped like he did in 2021. He needs to remember, the tour is his goal
I'm not sure it's just young guys. All of these guys were cyclists riding in traffic and all kinds of crazy places when they were younger and, as with any of us who has ridden a bike their whole life it's just the normal thing to do. Pros of course go to team sponsored camps where there is more safety and can ride their trainers, but they have to still go out and train on their own. But Bernal's accident seems different because training on the TT bike in traffic seems like an altogether more hazardous undertaking. What's with all these young guys going full steam around traffic and ramming into cars? Thinking of Egan Bernal, Tom Pidcock a couple years ago, and now Remco. There is a time to go full steam and a time to be cautious. Maybe young guys just don't have a lot of wisdom.
No troubles in paradise. On the contrary, they're having fun and he maybe has more moves than most of us. This was just before the Sports Gala in Belgium last weekend. Probably good shoulder therapy too.
Professional riders are superhuman. He's back on the bike, an indoor one at least

I love it! (Never knew Remco could be a lip-syncing member of a boyband.)No troubles in paradise. On the contrary, they're having fun and he maybe has more moves than most of us. This was just before the Sports Gala in Belgium last weekend. Probably good shoulder therapy too.
180-200w shouldnt be anywhere near zone 2 for Remco? He is currently logging daily 1 hour zone 2 sessions on Zwift, sometimes twice a day. It's fun to see his watts and heartbeat profile for once. He improves daily. He started at 180 watts @ 136 bpm and is currently doing 200 watts @ 133 bpm.
