I disagree, not cause you have a bad stage, or even a couple of mediocre stages that you should throw away GC.
The way I see it, people will be put on 15-20 minutes by Pogacar again. No need to panic therefore.

Ofcourse I'm always in for a Remco surprise. But right now I see Pogacar by his lonesome self.
Vingegaard on 5 minutes. Almeida, Roglic, Remco and Lipo battling for third.

There shouldn’t be a battle for third, otherwise Evenepoel should stop with GT chasing

So if Evenepoel is not always better than Ayuso, Del Toro, Almeida, Roglic, Lipo, whomever coming up he should discard GT ambitions? I disagree.

I liked Cadel Evans, he seemed a top pro. I never thought he needed to stop his GT ambitions whenever he was beaten by other riders not named Contador.

Sometimes you're in top shape and everything goes your way. Something you fall short. Wether condition or luck wise.
Cyclists ain't robots. Not everyone is like Pogacar and will be top every time.

Nibali & Valverde were never top dogs GT wise. But both got a GT win through perseverance. Nibali even got 4 of them.

I just feel that if he's not always better than those in a GT he would be able to accumulate a more impressive palmares if he would only focus on single day racing and 1 week stage racing.

But that scenario won't happen, because I'm still sure he's much better than those riders, and eventually will close the gap to Pogacar/Vingegaard.

Personally I feel the only times evenepoel needs to truly choose between GT and other races, is when he wants to focus on the giro. Before and after the tour/vuelta there are no major races that would truly disrupt GT or one day race goals.

I don't even feel Remco can be ALWAYS better then Rogla at one day races. So you saying he needs to always be better in GTs and week long stage races, to continue such career. If that would truly be the case, as some sort of a general rule, then Rogla would mostly ride GTs and week long stage races alone. Likely he would decimated the daily racing events too, if the rule would be if you are not always better then Rogla, then end the pursue. Damn, Remco wouldn't even do TTs anymore. Crazy criteria.

I can't really follow what you are saying, I'm just saying Evenepoel should always be able to finish on the podium of TDF if everything goes correctly. Same goes for LBL/Lombardia

And then you said otherwise he shouldn't pursue this type of races anymore, acting like it's a given. I just pointed out if that would be a general rule, then a whole lot of cyclists would not pursue this type of races anymore. On top of that you seem to believe third place at the Tour is the maximum possible result for Remco. Here even Pogi and Jonas, whom you feel are better, failed to achieve their maximum result, past couple of years. And Rogla might i add. This is cycling after all.

Most riders aren't Evenepoel. And no, I don't think 3rd place is maximum possible result, I think he can win it. I'm saying that if finishing 3rd place is already hard for him, then it might be more interesting to not focus so hard on GT's.

You can't criticize Abi for saying Roglic can win the Tour when you are also saying bold things like this one. There is zero evidence that supports Remco can win the Tour unless both Vingo and Pogi crash out. The same can be said about Roglic though.

Besides Remco not having have had a decent lead up to the TDF, ever. And being much younger than Roglic.

I honestly believe that if Evenepoel is able to stay on the bike for 1-2 full years without ever really crashing so hard he is off the bike for a long time, he will win the TDF.

By some. Rogličes Tour results are rather good. It's just that whenever people mention Pogi and Jonas people claim bar injury, somehow they forget to mention that on when it comes to Rogla. Double standards. I guess this is what you get when you try to implement a cast system. A lot of nonsense involved to support it.

IMHO Rogla was hit with some unfounded ageism in the past, that got quickly resolved. In Remco case i would say fat shaming is something to address.
