Must be so brutal mentally now. I would've stepped off the bike already. This is Vuelta 2023 all over again. Trained so long so hard for this, and now 50 riders are better than him.

2 possible reasons:
- Illness
- He must change teams sooner than later. He is not training, eating like other riders in UAE or Visma.
The latter reason does not explain why he is getting dropped by relative minnows. Unless he's ill, I think we can only conclude he is fundamentally unreliable at GTs on account of not truly being a natural climber. A little bit like Cunego.

He was still training and doing volume Feb-March.

Won his first race back against WVA.

Plump in LBL, but mostly because of bad position into Redoute. Sat up in the end.

Race miles in Romandie.

Very good, despite not matching Vinge/Pog, in Dauphine.

How much can he really be off?

He sucks at going over the limit on a bad day, and very often they will hit climbs like Soulor very hard from the beginning only to slow down a bit later.
