The part are more take issue is with the team dynamics. Coming in and taking the former team leader’s spot as top dog and preventing him from riding the Tour just is what it is, the world keeps moving as people rise and fall, but the clunky comments to the press about Roglic and the 2022 Tour, the comments that he would have won the 2023 Giro (which his teammate Roglic won), and as far as I am aware zero effort to say anything positive about Roglic (whereas Roglic said a lot of really nice things) just doesn’t seem like good sportsmanship. Having said that, I think he just is not that guy. I’d prefer if he was more consistently classy. (Doesn’t mean I think he’s a bad person.)
I think you read articles that deliberately took things out of context for the clicks. As far as I know he didn't say anything bad about TDF 2022. The reason why he said: I was scared to mention it on stage, was because for Roglic that wasn't the best experience because of his crash. Sure the team won, but Evenepoel also understands that Roglic also missed an opportunity to win the TDF there. While also understanding that if they want to defeat Pogacar, it works better with two than a 1-on-1 fight.

Yeah, but there's a Jonas factor as well.

I don't think Remco said anything negative about Roglic. But i do think Roglic and his fans can feel that way.
Roglic fans are remarkably triggered by Evenepoel, as any long-time reader of either thread can see.

Never got why you can't like both guys for their respective outstanding qualities and critique both guys for their respective foibles.

Fandom can be so dumb.

Well, this is a rather one sided view so some self reflection wouldn't hurt here. But indeed the gist of it is correct.

Actually yes, especially as now they are team mates and on top of that it doesn't seem they will race together all that much in the 2026 season. So the fixation is rather strange, exactly what i pointed out in our earlier discussion, the one that took the unexpected U turn.

Fandom can be so dumb.

I guess this is mostly by design.

Yeah, this is definitely a 2 way street.

To a certain extent. Can't help but feel a lot of people purposely visit the Remco thread to bash remco and his fans.
Maybe i'm wrong in assuming this happens less in the Roglic, Pogacar & Vingegaard thread. Don't really know as i barely visit those. So this assumption is just a gut feeling, not actually based on known facts.

All I known is i have several people on ignore as their only purpose seemed to be bashing Remco. I don't miss seeing their posts, as i personally don't feel they ever contributed something useful to this thread. Never felt they offered any insights, news, perspective, ... . just bashing.

Hell , I don't even know if these people are still doing that, or the situation has improved. All i know is this thread has improved for me personally since I decided to cut them off my feed.

I don't mind criticism of me or a rider, as long as it's fueled by rationale. I felt for too many it was simply fueled by something more than dislike.

When fanboys are telling things that's not entirely true or twisting the narrative, they will of course be challenged. Some fanboys are then getting upset.

Personally my problem with cyclocross is, i only care about a few races

- Overijse
- Koppenberg
- Koksijde
- Diegem
- Zonhoven
- Hoogerheide

-UEC, BK, WC.

And i'm being generous with that list.

Using the ignore feature can be helpful. But I haven't got the impression people visit the Remco thread just to to attack members who are Remco fans. More likely they will post because they disagree about something claimed by Remco or his fans. But if you feel there is trolling or harassment feel free to report that and we can take a look at it.

Rivalry at the Tour top two spots....It's unheard of.

Only Rogla and Remco achieved what in traditional sense can be perceived as a good and quality sports rivalry, especially when it comes to the fans. The rest is not even worth mentioning in comparison to that. Now RBH has put an end to it beyond maybe some internal team friction. But obviously that can't ever be the same.

For a short time MVDP vs Van Aert was a real thing as well. But MVDP has since put a big gap between him and and Van Aert. I also feels Jonas vs Tadej was a real thing 2 years ago, but Jonas seems to have thrown the towel mentally and physically Tadej went off the charts. One could argue the short Roglic vs Remco rivalry is gone now as well.

In fact unless Del Toro challenges his 'master', Seixas comes fast, ... we actually need Remco to improve for cycling to remain interesting beyond the early spring classics. Where MVDP so far has remained competitive.

Carapaz vs Del Toro could prove amusing as well if the 2 somehow face each other quite often without other bigger guns truly present.

Or we may be forced to simply start watching only the races in which Pogacar does not ride, or watch the races where the terrain allows for tension. The rest may have become more enjoyable to watch on highlights reel summary. That is to say if the gap between Pogacar and the rest of the field on certain terrain remains as wide as it was last year.

Too much dominance does kill the sport a little bit.

ITT is no longer fun to watch.
