Fabio Parra (3rd in the 1988 Tour) ran for election to the Colombian House of Representatives. He didn't do very well.

thats cool.

I hung around my friend Rodolfo Massi in his home town this past spring in Castelvecchio.

He runs a bike shop and is active in the cycling community.

Eros Poli, winner of a stage at Tour, some years ago was teaching spinning in a gym near Verona.
Now he's supposed to own a bar.

Roberto Petito has a bar in Civitavecchia (near Rome) as well.

Peter Van Petegem and his wife Angelique own bed & breakfast "Le Pavé". Room rates between €210 and €250 per night.
Have a look inside: http://www.lepave.be/#/film/

De Peet also gives actes de présence on events organised by Serge Baguet. Serge's baguetveloevents.be offers VIP packages for races across Europe and organizes cycling holidays.

Gert Jan Theunisse

Another post today reminded me of the only cyclist whose painface has truly scared me, Gert Jan Theunisse, one of the earliest out-there doping stories. Talking about him at work with a Flemish guy who remembers him better than I do made me think that I should check up on his whereabouts. He actually comes across as rather a gentle soul, I think.

He can be found these days doing training camps in Mallorca. Though he should probably be auditioning for gangster movies.

martin emilio "cochize" rodriguez, the cannibal from colombia, is member of a liberal (I believe) political party and is in the medellin senate.

he is a former world champion pursuit as well as former world hour record holder and winner of arguably the most races ever in colombia (and venezuela). and was voted for colombian sportsfigure of the 20th century.

This is a great thread!

La Pave looks really nice.

Love those photos of Gert. He totally looks like a Bond villain!

As far as Abdu goes, CN did a great article on him a couple years ago. He's a coach, and still as grumpy and abrasive as ever. :)

Edit: Doh! It looks like L'arriviste beat me to the Abu link.

Sorry, Alpe! I will never stop loving that photo though. Straight off the front of a suspect file. :)

I've seen a thread like this on another forum but I aim to easily beat it because the userbase there is not international enough to have the knowledge. And remember folks, we're looking for obscure cases. People like Museeuw and Hinault are all still very visible and we already know their whereabouts! ;)

Who's this? I've got no idea. A friend took the pic at the Tour, because everyone was making a fuss of him.

Now I'm not an expert on celebrities, but isn't that director Roberto Benigni? He is a small guy, so he could pass for an ex-cyclist:) I could be insulting a legendary cyclist now :p

Does anyone know what Pascal Herve, Thierry Marie, Ronan Pensec or Jan Svorada are up to these days?

Hervé and Marie are discussed above in this thread. :) Pensec I'll cover in a moment. As for Svorada, I'm not so sure.

EDIT: Jan Svorada appears to have gone down the usual "cycling grandee" route - store openings, public appearances and so on. He's also still an active MTB racer. Fascinatingly, he was a trainee electrician before turning to pro cycling, though he shows no sign of taking up that particular career again. ;)
